said on Monday it was in talks with a consortium pursuing its $22.8 billion ports business to add a Chinese "major strategic investor" to the bid, after Beijing flagged a probe into the deal amid heightened Sino-U.S. tension. The Hong Kong-based conglomerate made the comment the day after exclusive talks ended with the consortium, led by U.S. investment firm BlackRock

and Italian billionaire Gianluigi Aponte's family-run shipping company MSC.

The parties in March agreed a preliminary deal for 43 ports in 23 countries, including two ports along the strategically important Panama Canal. Ports operator China COSCO Shipping Corp is looking to join the consortium, a person with knowledge of the matter

Don't know about you, but as far as traveling for pleasure goes, I've yet to consider a country, region, city or warlord's capacity for warfighting while selecting vacation destinations.

Though maybe I'm just evaluating a would be holiday in Chechnya from the wrong perspective.

Not sure when you last went on vacation or if that's even an activity that interests you, @pmc, but what would you do and where would you visit while vacationing in Chechnya?
This vacation is for people inside Russia so they can learn from culture capital that is Grozny for 2025 . Just reading Putin gives you idea what he is referring too. It is not much different than Russian Deputy PM asking Saudis to invest in Far East. it is no confidence on people residing there. This is what i call Royal method of governance. that mere visits create activity that transform regions and without any trace of monetary announcements. Transformation is not in just in infrastructure but values. which is the hardest part. like multi generation family should display the finest qualities every day like what some are displaying in this Ukraine conflict. its not attire but mindset.

Those claiming the EU got nothing out of the ‘trade deal’ are wrong. They get to bend over and cry ‘daddy’.

Chinese trade negotiators should take note of what the European EUnchs respond to in future dealings with them.
Pretty sure china saw through the EU after they rejected the CAI.

I mean it's a deal where the EU gets a lot and china got little. It was lopsidded and still the EU rejected it based on US lobbying

Im pretty sure thats when china saw through what the EU really is about. Hence the dual circulation, hence trying to catch up to EU machinery.

Who else managed to take a union of countries that initially rivaled the US in GDP and surpassed chinas GDP to now being almost third.

1. It's entirely possible that the trade deal won't get Trump anything he wants in the end because especially for Westoids, making promises is one thing while keeping them is something else entirely. "I know we said we'd buy $750B of this from you but... we just don't have the money or the need. So now what?" That's nothing new. Also, personal sentiment in Europe towards the US is destroyed. Europeans hate Americans and will consciously reject American products after this.

2. Even if not, I don't actually think this is a stupid move for the EU. The Western empire is comprised of the major arm in the US, the minor arm in the EU, and some small appendages like Canada, Australia, etc... This empire is in dire threat of being defeated by China. The empire took decades to build and is a lasting relationship; Trump is flitting. The power emitted by this alliance and empire is what gives Westerners an inflated position in the word, which they greatly enjoy and use to their advantage, something we Asians call White Worship. Neither the US nor the EU can create this alone, but together, they have created it when China was much weaker and they have reaped all of the benefits. If the Europeans told the US to fuck off and they will trade with China, Pax Americana, US dollar dominance, the Western empire all die together immediately, all because of the flitting insanity of Donald Trump. After Trump leaves office, even with an EU-friendly US president, they cannot put the empire back together because during the period of a US-EU break, China will have come into such a dominant position of power, nothing can be reversed. Pax Sinica will be in the door and no one can push it back out. So to prevent this regret that the EU and US will likely face together after Trump leaves, the EU decided to take Trump's lashes and accept that it will be eating American shit at least until 2028 because they fear that the other choice will have the entire global Anglo population, all of their children and grandchildren, eating Chinese shit for the next couple of centuries.
So basically foxconn Wisconsin.

If I were European I'd be embarrassed.
What's there to be embarrassed. The deal is not binding, so any investment is something already planned. The tariffs were absolutely unavoidable. It would be better to look at the Japan deal. Any tweets are meaningless. Written documents and signed deals matter more. I mean look at this.
