Developing | 9 civilians killed in Thailand-Cambodia border clashes

Thai and Cambodian forces were fighting in at least six locations along their disputed border on Thursday, resulting in the deaths of nine Thai civilians as Thailand also launched air strikes on its neighbour.
As fighting escalated in the remote area through Thursday morning, Thai fighter jets fired on Cambodian military positions, according to a Thai army statement. Six F-16 jets were deployed from Ubon Ratchathani province, hitting two “Cambodian military targets on the ground”, Thai army spokesman Ritcha Suksuwanon said.

Cambodia’s defence ministry condemned what it called reckless and brutal Thai military aggression, accusing its neighbour of opening fire on its troops and violating an agreement designed to de-escalate tension.
Thailand’s army later said in a statement that nine Thai civilians had been killed across three provinces, including an 8-year-old boy. A further 14 people were injured as a result of the fighting, the army said.

New conflict thread time?

I haven't read up too much on the situation, since typically outside of the SCS and Myanmar, SEA is a pretty quiet part of the globe geopolitically. But the conflict looks like it'll be localized and I'm not sure how much it can escalate, if nothing else for the fact that Cambodia in terms of armaments is hopelessly outmatched against Thailand.

The main thing I'm looking at is China. Even if I don't want to use this term, SEA is for all intents and purposes China's backyard, so China has to show it is capable of mediating disputes.
We've got a Cambodian member here, it's me!

It's not the first time that Cambodia and Thailand clash at border but this time I guess conflict may last longer. The reasons are political, and I do not want to talk too much about it.

Situation at Cambodia - Thailand border has gone from bad to worse. This morning both sides exchange heavy weapon. Airforce was used and there are reports that one Thai F-16 was shot down. This news has not been independently confirmed.

Nah, I think that's fake news.

If a F-16 actually got shot down, we should have footage of wreckage by now. Or maybe acknowledgment by the Royal Thai Air Force.

That's why I clarified by "the news has not been independently confirmed". Cambodia only have manpad for air defense. I don't recall we have any meaningful air defense missile. That's also the reason why Thai F-16s dare to come close to the targets and drop dumb bombs.

I remember seing/postibg abt Thai Cambodia clash before, why r they clashing now?
It's apparently something to do with the land mines scandal. Basically, Cambodia came in Thai territory and planted land mines which incapacitated two Thai soldiers' legs and injured many more. This lead to Thailand severing ties with Cambodia, and now we're here.

Today hasn't been a day with good news.

One Angara Airlines An-24 aircraft with 49 passengers and crew onboard flying from Blagoveshchensk to Tynda in the Russian Far East has crashed near its destination airport, which is near the China-Russia border. No survivors reported.

British Caucasian HK Judge (Russell Coleman) further makes case to kick out all western societal value tainted "judges" with similar backgrounds from the HK judicial system who currently operate in traditional conventional Chinese society. They dig their own graves when they try to impose their own societal values on other countries like this. Pure hubris.

Hong Kong, The testing ground to see if "Chinese Values" alone can withstand modern western sophistry, identity politics, mcdonalds nationalism and winology. The answer is a resounding no......

Filipino Marcos supporters are now trying so hard to cope about the fact that despite being America's bitch, their massive "trade deal" only resulted in 1% reduction.
Idk why all these petty ass inconsequential sea disputes somehow generated so many pro-West anti-China Filipino libs. Hell, the ongoing clashes between Thailand and Cambodia are much more brutal than all the SCS encounters in the past 2 years combined and somehow that doesn't generate as much hate for China as these sea disputes do.
