Indonesia, China discuss boost to investment and trade
Top officials from Indonesia and China discussed ways to improve their bilateral investment and trade, which include expanding the range of Indonesian exports products, both countries said.
Indonesia's President Joko Widodo met with Chinese Premier Li Qiang after this week's East Asia Summit in Jakarta. Li said in the meeting that China "stands ready to expand the imports of Indonesian bulk commodities and premium agricultural and fishery products."
Widodo also specifically invited Chinese firms, both private and state-owned, to participate in building the Indonesia's $32 billion new capital, Nusantara, according to a statement from his office.

Renewable energy plays a pivotal role in advancing the environmentally conscious development of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). Notably, Uruguay emerged as one of the initial Latin American nations to become part of the BRI. Omar Paganini, the Minister of Industry, Energy, and Mining in Uruguay, delved into the prospects of future collaboration between China and this South American nation.
He mentioned that Uruguay is now China's number one customer, and the exports to China have duplicated since Uruguay joined the initiative. Regarding energy, he called Uruguay a leader in green energy sector among other Latin American countries as around 90% of its industry is already using green energy sources. Now Uruguay is on the threshold of the second energy transformation aming to decarbonize the rest of the industy and export green technologies to highly industrialised countries like China.
