Plus Israel is one of the very few US colonies that pays for itself and serves as "model" colony in many ways, much like how the GDR was for the USSR. That makes them more or less US' most prized possession.

Israel is not a U. S. colony, or a colony, at all. It is the final imperative of the dying British Empire, of which it, and the U. S. are imperial enforcers. All the more reason for Palestinian Statehood to be a cornerstone of Chinese foreign-policy. As soon asTaiwan declares independence, China recognizes the Palestinian State and immediately sends a package of economic and military aid (coordinated through Iran)!

The consequences of this new thinking are now becoming clear. Unfortunately, it is bringing neither resilience nor security. Supply chains have become more tangled and opaque as they have adapted to the new rules. And, if you look closely, it becomes clear that America’s reliance on Chinese critical inputs remains. More worrying, the policy has had the perverse effect of pushing America’s allies closer to China.
