Two things, one, isn’t reducing the ability for Europe to go around and help the USA basically invade and harm other nations is a good thing because this is something that is sorely need for world peace given how biligerent this colonists powers have been for the last couple of decades after the fall of the Soviet Union and even before then. Two, if such a compound is so important, why one earth did they let China be the one and most important nation when in charge of the production of all these chemicals needed for such weapons. Surely their profit driven mania isn’t more important then the ability to protect themselves because if it is, then they completely deserve to suffer the Consequences for such an obviously stupid arrangement. It’s like giving the opposing side the ability to make all your weapons and the they pull the surprised idiot face when that side simply doesn’t let you have those minerals simply because they can’t be trusted and even worse, they literally sanction the region in said nation that is producing those chemicals due to slander from a third party that is also quite stupid as well. What did they honestly expect to happen, them to come back begging for mercy, really Europe is its own worse enemy

To be fair, that is just a business leader trying to kick-out the Chinese competitor from the market. This is a cottage industry at this point. Just tell something Chinese is a threat to the natsec. Even garlic wasn't spared. I can at least understand nitrocellulose.
Note: I am not writing anything definitive as I haven't checked but my gut feeling says the article is misleading. Europe has a massive chemicals industry and militaries don't consume much products in the first place compared to civilian economy. It is very unlikely that Europe couldn't produce gunpowder without Chinese materials.
