How about least get rid of the privileged system reserved for Party elders and their families (高干医疗,高干病房), so more resources could be put into the general system for common citizens, veterans, working elders, pregnant women (I mean, if China really wants to boost birth rate, at LEAST make things free for pregnant women and single mothers/fathers). There also needs to be paid paternity leaves (don’t need to be as long as maternity leave, but at least a week off during the mother’s labour and birth) required by law (must be actually enforceable, unlike China’s failed labour contract law) as opposed to just maternity leave. It is vital for toddlers to get to know their fathers instead just mothers or grandparents. As with my, I grew up with my grandparents during childhood since parents were so busy that they only got to see me once a week. I was lucky. The children of migrant workers don’t even know who their parents are. Ultimately, you need to improve Joe average citizens’ disposable income in order to sustain economic growth and promote a less toxic social environment.
