As with all brick and mortar stores, Fry's was more killed by Amazon than anything else.
With everything bought on line and working from home, and the beaches becoming the cities toilets, there won't be any need to go out, hence there will be no need for privately owned cars. Not even in Australia has this ever happened. I guess this is what happens when the covid, Trump and very poor money policy mixes together. I am not saying that Australia is all that great but I guess malls closing down like in the USA isn't one of those things that is going bad
I used to buy a lot of stuffs from Fry's to take advantages of not needed to pay sales tax since I am living in the East Coast. Only Micro center and Bestbuy left for electronics. After CompUSA and Circuit City liquidated, I am not surprised Fry's is next.As with all brick and mortar stores, Fry's was more killed by Amazon than anything else.

9/11 didn't only kill J&R but also killed Manhattan Chinatown. I went to J&R often when I visited Manhattan Chinatown before 9/11. Newegg.com used to be a good place for computer hardware and parts too.I have my own stories about visiting Fry's in CA. So sad to see it go. It was just an incredible experience for geeks... New York had its own J&R Music World (remember their catalogs? 9/11 killed it) but that is like comparing a neighborhood grocery store with a Costco.
