The Australian and New Zealand Society for Immunology says the federal government should immediately pause the planned rollout of the AstraZeneca vaccine because it may not be effective enough to generate herd immunity.

Phase three clinical trials of the vaccine, which is the centrepiece of Australia's vaccination strategy, show it is only 62 per cent effective in preventing COVID-19 when given in the recommended dose. Trials suggest vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna are about 95 per cent effective.
All this 62 vs 95 is kind of sus. We must look the data deeper. For example the definition of efficacy might be different.

Also almost all vaccines offer 100% protection to prevent severe COVID.

Meanwhile in Taiwan..
I look forward to welcoming @USAmbUN Kelly Craft to Taiwan next week. Your visit marks an important milestone in the #US-#Taiwan partnership & highlights that #TaiwanCanHelp the international community.

Unfortunately...or fortunately..
No more tax payers money wasted..
A cancellation of all travel by the U.S. State Department this week includes a planned visit to Taiwan by U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Kelly Craft, a State Department spokeswoman said on Tuesday.
Craft’s Taiwan trip appeared to be another part of an effort by Pompeo and President Donald Trump’s Republican administration to lock in a tough approach to China before Democratic President-elect Joe Biden takes office on Jan. 20.

Efforts to further damage China-US relationship has been called off for now.
