As India drives to compete with China on infrastructure development close to and around the disputed border area, an unfortunate situation has occurred. Many of the infrastructures were made haphazardly and apparently not built to the conditions of the environment. Last year alone 200 Indians died from flash flood and this year to avoid the same tragedy the government has to ask the residents to leave their homes and area for good as a result, many of the residents on this area have to evacuate from their villages that they have lived for generations.

Surprised there's no term for poor Indian quality control like 'curry dreg' or something

Dmitry Medvedev:
Enemy countries do not have the courage to admit that their "hellish" sanctions have failed miserably. Does not work. The vast majority of industrial products and consumer goods were replaced by our own, Russian, and the missing ones - by Asian brands. Parallel imports also work, from which we get the same Western brands, and their owners get nothing. So everything is as always: the Americans make money on a humiliated Europe. Crushed Europe endures and loses money. At the same time, even the IMF predicts economic growth in Russia this year.

It remains only to adopt the rules on the use of their intellectual property. Without any licenses and payment of royalties. This, among other things, will be our retaliatory sanctions on their property rights. For everything from movies to industrial software. Thanks, by the way, to those who have developed various programs for the unlicensed use of their expensive intellectual products. In short, for piracy in personal sanctions mode. What, à la guerre comme à la guerre (at war as at war)...

U.S. military poised to secure new access to key Philippine bases

The expansion is part of a broader push in the Indo-Pacific to buttress U.S. force posture, reinforce alliances and deter China

I don't think Xi will be happy after getting played by Marcos.
Dreadful news.

"The expansion involves access to Philippine military bases, likely including two on the northern island of Luzon — which, analysts said, could give U.S. forces a strategic position from which to mount operations in the event of a conflict in Taiwan or the South China Sea".

"The expected EDCA expansion will follow an announcement earlier this month that the U.S. Marine Corps will be revamping a unit in Okinawa to be better able to fight in austere, remote islands by 2025. Under the plan, a new Marine Littoral Regiment would be equipped with advanced capabilities, such as anti-ship missiles that could be fired at Chinese ships in the event of a Taiwan conflict".

Please no military discussion on this as I already posted it on the Ukrainian war thread.

I am posting it here just to show what I meant when I said that the "send or not send Abrams to Ukraine" was a bad theater and I expected a bigger budget play for the fighter jets. Unfortunately, they are cheapskates and they are following the same script.

France open to sending fighter jets to Ukraine

President Emmanuel Macron says ‘nothing is excluded’ after US rules out supplying F-16s
France has signalled openness to sending fighter jets to Ukraine as western countries weigh the next steps in military assistance to help Kyiv resist Russian attacks.
“By definition, nothing is excluded,” President Emmanuel Macron said at a press conference in The Hague on Monday, adding that he had not received a request for jets from Ukraine.
Paris has informed other European capitals that the possibility of sending additional weapons systems, including jets, is on the table, according to two officials briefed on the discussions, but a decision is unlikely to be made in the immediate future.
Ukraine’s defence minister Oleksiy Reznikov met Macron and his French counterpart in Paris on Tuesday and said they discussed jets, but no “specific names or types of planes”.

I had said before to not trust Marcos words.
If its true and not the usual western propaganda, that's a big win for the US.

Also this is another piece of news that reinforces my argument that the US is already seriously preparing/planning for war
