Hah. Brazil

The US locked up South America pretty tight. Just look at all the coups. Magically all left-winged governments in South America vanished. Poof. Except for Venezuela and not for lack of trying was it. Coup in Brazil, Coup in Equador, Coup in Bolivia, etc.

No. This is China's failure to strike them back.

The US, and the European colonial powers before them, have been doing this kind of thing to weaker nations for centuries. China is now walking a different path by offering infrastructure instead of bombs, equal partnerships instead of regime changes. So far, we've been seeing some real, tangible results from this approach in Africa and other parts of the world.

When you deal with others on an equal footing, it is inevitable that some will spurn your advances. No matter how unfortunate that may be, China always respects the right of other nations to make their own sovereign decisions.

You are very generous.

But if i were you, i wouldn't think Tienanmen square comes under any part of sovereignty of another country.
And as i have said before, if they have freedom of expression regarding something that only belongs to me, i have the freedom of reaction , and i am "free" to react any way i want to react.

You should have asked the czechies why they are putting those boards in their basement instead of putting where they belong, the the square, coming in middle of people of China if they have the gut to. You should have asked them why they did not stand up for you against the "allies" who went to china decades ago. We have seen enough of these "long distance" concern, feelings, standing up drama, we graduated in that subject.

Ever wondered why they always want to feel for you from safe distance? Why freedom of expression is afraid of freedom of reaction?
Apparent they have figured out that, "uncontrollable" freedom is it's own deterrence.

Of course the freedom to make one's own choices does not mean one is free of any consequences of those choices.

The Czechs can put up whatever they want, and China can decide to work with them or not. I suspect the Chinese leadership cares more about tangible benefits than whatever virtue signaling some nations want to engage in.

Again, there are currently 195 countries in the world. Instead of spending energy retaliating against these kinds of shenanigans, use that time and effort to build better relations with countries that can be trusted.

As long as China put the "concerned" czechies in their place, rest of the strategy makes sense.
However i am not sure i could have maintained my cool that longer, my fingers are itchy as my aim is accurate

Trump said he feels great and his Covid infection was a blessing from God. Lolll. He then said “he will make China pay a big price”. Let’s wait for this October surprise.

Everything he has done is to appeal to his voter base. 72 hours and he is already fine means he is the chosen one, an exceptional case given most covid hospitalisation took 2 weeks on average. It appeals to the hardcore religious voters. Saying "X has to pay" means again it is not their fault, not Trump's fault for his own infection, nor a failure of their nation's outbreak management strategy, it is an outsider factor that will be corrected in time. Again it appeals to those who cannot accept any criticism on the US political model.

Notice Pompeo just visit Japan to continue the consolidation of the "Quad". Despite all the grandeur ideals about it being to safe Asia Pacific from China or whatever good-sounding cause, please do not get taken in by the euphemistic cover.

Pompeo tends to be blatantly honest sometimes about US' intention. Last year he reveal that :

the group’s endeavor in a heavily China-focused frame in a speech at the Heritage Foundation. “We’ve reconvened “the Quad” – the security talks between Japan, Australia, India and the United States that had been dormant for nine years,” Pompeo said. “This will prove very important in the efforts ahead, ensuring that China retains only its proper place in the world.”

What is a "proper" place? Is there a standard to define what is or is not proper for a nation's position level?
What gives the US the legitimacy and power to dictate the above?
Does the inclusion of Australia, Japan. and India lend legitimacy to such judgment?
Do nations no have the right to develop independently? Then what is the UN Charter for?
The word "world" should be changed to "western dominated world order" to better reflect Pompeo's honest feeling.

That was a gigantic opportunity missed for china to launch a verbal salvo.
