First openly trans US Army officer arrested as ‘Russian spy’

Two Americans, including the US Army’s first openly transgender officer, were arrested after offering medical information of military personnel to a Russian embassy employee – in reality, an undercover FBI agent – according to a federal indictment made public on Thursday.

Henry made headlines in June 2015, as the first known US Army officer to come out as transgender. Though the Baltimore Banner and other outlets referred to Henry as “she,” the indictment itself called Henry “he” and Gabriellian’s husband.

Personally, I do not find it surprising.

Someone shot Kennedy. To this day, no one has figured that one out.

More recent examples, would be a couple of stories from 9/11.

There are a lot of conspiracy theories, but two or three stories never seem to be legit.
  • They claimed to have found a passport, in perfect condition, right in that rubble

  • They claimed that people made cell phone calls from those doomed airliners to their loved ones before they died, and I actually heard a tape of those of those calls on the evening news

  • They claimed there was unusual trading activity in options on airline stocks but that story quickly died and never ever mentioned again, it was a simple story with a paper trail, easily proved to be true or false but it died and do not mention it again
The American government may not realize it, but the American people have a low opinion about their government.

:(

This is what i talk about more often. When it comes to determining global role of certain power, it's power gap,not the individual power that is key factor. America has never been a de facto military power, even after USSR collapse. Almost every where america went, the other forces had/have intervened. De facto power means when anyone changes status quo, there is no one to restore it. Like British or rashedin empire before. When British empire came here with guns & cannons , we were still using arrow & swords. America could never create such gap in their entire history, even after having head start due to having large pool of defected German scientists.

A large part of america's military adventurism is derived from safety of geography, due to fact that it's hard to physically access it. We've been misinterpreting it as part of their power. America always has been trying to play a far bigger role that it can handle.

U.S. warns of China threat in first Pacific islands strategy

Biden administration plans to open 3 embassies in region to bolster influence.

NEW YORK -- The White House released its first strategy dedicated to the Pacific islands on Thursday as it looks to strengthen its broader Indo-Pacific strategy and counter China's growing influence in the region.

The strategy focuses on climate change, maritime issues like unregulated fishing, and expanding the U.S. diplomatic presence in the region, which the strategy says has become increasingly affected by the broader geopolitical competition playing out in the Pacific.

"Increasingly, those impacts include pressure and economic coercion by the People's Republic of China, which risks undermining the peace, prosperity, and security of the region, and by extension, of the United States," the document says.

The White House also announced $810 million in additional aid including $600 million dedicated to economic development and climate resilience for the region, which is home to island nations that are vulnerable to rising seas.

The U.S. will reopen an embassy in the Solomon Islands that had closed in 1993 and develop plans to open two others in Kiribati and Tonga -- all of which have diplomatic relations with Beijing. Washington will also recognize the Cook Islands and Niue as sovereign states.

The strategy also includes plans to expand training by the U.S. Coast Guard on maritime security.

The announcement comes during the second and final day of the Pacific Islands Country Summit in Washington, where U.S. President Joe Biden and his team are working to reassert the U.S. in a region where China has been making diplomatic inroads.

Biden is set to address the summit on Thursday.

The summit includes leaders from Fiji, the Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, the Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, the Cook Islands, French Polynesia and New Caledonia.

Last week the Marshall Islands -- a longtime American ally -- withdrew from negotiations with the U.S. over its Compact of Free Association security agreement, which expires next year.

This year the Solomon Islands signed a security pact with China and ahead of the summit declined to sign a declaration on U.S. partnership with the region.

A senior Biden administration official this week downplayed any differences with the island nation, saying "the Solomons have been actively engage in all the efforts that we've been involved with."

The Biden administration is committing $810 million to the Strategy to counter such skepticism. That figure — which includes a “10-year $600 million Economic Assistance Agreement request to Congress” — suggests the administration is seeking to avoid the ridicule it endured for the relatively paltry $150 million Biden

.

You see the accountant trick they did there? Majority (or not all) of that money is to be spread over a 10 year period, for 10 countries. So that works out to be 8.1 million USD per country per year.
