Does it matter? the DoJ/DoD/CIA can make up any charge against Huawei anyways. Can't play an honourable game with those who have no honour.
It matters to huawei if it wants to have the highest chance of wining its own case against US government or realistically limiting its damage until the breakthrough of 100% indigenous and economically viable chip technology.

Meng Wanzhou was arrested for violating Iranian embargos imposed by US, which goes against Europe, Russia, China, and Iranian agreements under the "

So if US can unilaterally tear up the Iran nuclear deal, impose unilateral sanctions on Iran and anyone dealing with Iran via long-arm jurisdiction.....then they can manufacture any charges on Huawei they want to, if they really want to kill Huawei chip leadership. It's not an honorable game, it's rigged from the beginning.

US Department of Justice is officially now a joke engaging in spin.
Where in the court proceeding did Meng admit anything?

The US Department of Justice is following in the step of "Jai Hind" masturbation where they bully or accuse China and Chinese (including academics, student, business) of charges without sufficient justification and hope it sticks.

This scenario is happening even more often now.
Go to the bottom of link I have posted. You can download the scan copy of the actual deferred prosecution agreement and Meng's statement of facts. The court in question is the Eastern district court of New York.

Here is the official release from DOJ regarding Meng's agreement if anyone is interested.

From this release, her admission could potentially be used against huawei down the line about its business relationship with Iran. It's win for Meng personally, but it's hard to say whether this is a win for huawei as a company.

China has been saying "your law is not our law" and they have been implying to become big enough where other countries in concert will ignore those laws

Sure, that's how US always operates. This is not in dispute. From a legal perspective, wouldn't it be better for Huawei not having its CFO admitting its business relationship with Iran? We all know US wants to destroy Huawei, I am afraid today's development just made US legal case against huawei much stronger.

It's good that China is becoming more assertive in its dealing with the west since Xi took over. But the damage to Huawei consumer division is real and it will hobble huawei growth for years to come.
