Some f*cking expensive prices for food I can easily make more/better at home-no wonder Trump has grifted over 10 billion bucks for him/family/cronise-they are just senseless/brainless uber-spenders that will go broke in a few years despite their wealth.

WTI still falling and it’s 83 per barrel now. Something happened at Hormuz?

Nothing really happened. Iran continues to say Yesnt on the Strait of Hormuz. G7 discussing on releasing 15-20 days worth of oil from their reserves. Trump claims the war is “very much complete” but when asked about Secretary of War Putrid Huckleberry comments about it being the beginning. He said it could be a little bit of both. So I guess it is market optimism? Fundamentally nothing has changed yet.

They're releasing reserves quietly in the hope they can find an off ramp before they run out, lol

It's funnier because China just ran $200B surplus in Jan-Feb and can bid up every drop of oil on the market, so the west are basically indirectly transferring their own reserves to China.

Oil and gas are physical things and physical things are immutable, the west really struggle with this idea.

Per "Laws of the Sea" (COLREGS 1972) this scenario is unlikely to work or rather, unlikely to work with the PLAN-Militia force being in the "right".
  • Privilege (loosely read as "right of way") is pretty much on the side of the larger vessel, sailing in restricted channels.
  • Burden then is on the smaller, powered vessel to steer to avoid collision while the privileged vessel maintains speed and course.
The only way to impede the USN fleet navigation is to ursurp the privilege/burden status by use of (for example) sail boats, tugs towing something or an even larger, deeper draft vessel.
You are quite right about COLREGS but no USN captain is going to put his thin-skinned destroyer at risk shouldering a Chinese MM fishing trawler.
Of course, the scenario is silly to begin with because China wouldn't react so weakly to begin with. Instead of playing games with noncombatant vessels, they'd start by flattening every American base in the First Island Chain.
China has already practiced similar scenarios (most recently in ECS) because China intends to (and likely will) win without firing a shot.

No? Israel getting hit by missiles every 8 months serves Israel's goals? Iran on verge of nuclear weapons serves Israel's goals? A pro-US regime change will serve Israel interest long-term, to permanently remove the nuclear threat. Somehow Iran is too weak (fractured, weak, Mossad infiltrated) and too strong (agency for nukes, agency for retaliation, agency for BRICS), which is it?
This is exactly what controlled opposition means: calculated and limited damage for greater political gain. Israel and all of Western politics have been working with this for many decades, both in elections and in war.

If Iran's missiles had sunk an aircraft carrier or killed western leaders, Israel would have lost control. But that's not the case. Iran's response remained entirely predictable and as Netanyahu's party wanted to stay in power. The same group also allowed Hamas attack on October 7th to gain political advantage... so it's nothing new.
