The funny thing is what’s different between the West and China from ten years ago and yet some Europeans and Canadians especially from the right are acting like pursuing rapprochement is like the first time ever?
They thought they could use the COVID epidemic to take advantage over China where they can play victim. They thought they could use threats to gain position just like they’re doing now.
The only reason why the West had relations with China was because of how much money they thought they were going to make using China. Yeah that part has changed because China doesn’t need them. But they need China to provide the basic goods they do need cheaply during their economic collapse they’re trying to stave off. Anywhere else it’s going to cost them which is what they don’t need. That’s why they can’t decouple like they arrogantly threatened.
It’s like how they scoffed at China relegated to “only” being able to make legacy chips. The Nexperia scandal showed how much they need those legacy chips. By their stupid logic, they thought their most advanced chips would replace legacy chips so they didn’t need them. Yeah since those advanced chips cost so much, do you need them for a toaster? All that’ll do is make buying toaster to cost a couple thousand dollars. They don’t appreciate the service China has provided.
They’re gambling on India to replace China for all that but “until” that happens, they need China. But that’s to their disadvantage because they don’t know if India is going to live out to be what they hope for which is why they’re trying to get the best deal they can with China until then. India can’t even replace China for legacy chips.
US allies cut themselves off at the knees believing that they didn’t need China but China needed them and they acted arrogantly and accordingly to that belief. The reason they’re angry is because they know they lost that bet badly. That’s why they find themselves in the position they are in now and the ones taking reality harder are those from the right because they more than others believed in the fantasies of their superiority. Just imagine waking up in the morning finding out you were wrong about that.
These are soldiers those are supposed to be taller. Intellectual class in Russia was shorter and peasant class taller. you can see Yeltsin from earlier generation taller than Putin. now this may no longer correct. these two senior officials receiving UAE President taller than him.(deputy PM). Putin has this approach that those who he consider real Russian government officials to enhance there soft Power and that can only happen by building close association with Royal families.

I think at this point Marx Carney has learned something that Xi has learned seven years ago — the only way Trump will respect you is if you slap him around couple of times in public. Otherwise you are just weak and he’ll push for even more concession.
