They’re only wrong if China takes decisive, significant action. Otherwise, it’s a gamble that pays off, renews japans value in the eyes of America, and firms up domestic political standing. Any possible economic backlash they’ll just play victim and galvanize the japanese public.

China squeezed the US until they caved. It's wild to me now some people here somehow think Japan is going to be able to do better than America in the face of Chinese pressure.

That's what annoys me about China's "benevolence" because it plays consistently into China's history. Are we incapable of learning the lessons of the past, or are the current leaders just so enamored with the party's hold on power and stability that they'll keep pushing and adjusting the red lines, make bluster about it, but then move on just as quickly when the offending party shows some fake and contrite concessions?
I can't help but reinforce the perpetual label of mercantile, money-hungry, materialistic cowards.

You know, there's one interesting method which is inspired by a Chinese Weibo user, and I believe that this can be used to trigger and humiliate the Sinophobic ultranationalist crowds in Japan.

Make metal statues of the Imperial Japanese top war criminals that were involved in the invasion, plunder and slaughter of China in the kneeling position with heads lowered and hands bounded behind their backs, similar to the statues in front of the Yue Fei Tomb that represent culprits that betrayed and killed Yue Fei.

The figures should include-but-not-limited-to:
1. Hideki Tojo
2. Fumimaro Konoe
3. Yasuhiko Asaka
4. Iwane Matsui
5. Shiro Ishii
6. Masji Kitano
7. Isamu Cho, and
8. Nobosuke Kishi.

Have these statues lined up right in front of the main entrance of the Nanjing Massacre Memorial, with the visitors to the memorial free to vandalize and deface the statues, and with major domestic and international news agencies lined up to photograph and videotape this for the world audience to see.

Most importantly, Japan must be forced to televise and post about this across all news channels and social media sites in great detail.

Because that label may be true. The Chinese loves nothing more than money. As long as they can keep earning money, they don't give a damn about anything else. That's also why a one party state function quite well in China. Allow them to earn money and they will not care about politics.

China has historically valued 文 over 武 whereas Japan has been the opposite. That is one of the reasons that the Japanese attempt to copy the Tang dynasty government system and civil service examination system ultimately failed.

Japan underestimation of China's capabilities while giving China an obvious advantage in case of actual military conflict also can have the unwelcome aspect of leading to Japanese diplomatic missteps that end up provoking possible conflict at a premature time or in a manner that China might not like.

I get the feeling China is trying to exert economic pressure and weaken Japan without military conflict because China is focused on still self-strengthening itself economically and technologically with an eye on the greater rival of the United States as that is the greater factor in any armed reunification scenario.

I mean historically wise the 文 guys have successfully lasted longer over the 武 guys.

Look at all those nomadic or warrior culture empires. Most them never lasted long. Rome despite what people think is engineering first over combat. Britain and America despite being blood thirsty aholes don't do stuff because they're warriors but because there's profit involved. That's why they're actually very slimy and you need to read between the lines to deal with them. That's why guys like Germans and Russians who are so direct keep getting scammed by them.

But to be fair Japan portrays itself as a warrior culture but it's leaders act like slimy Jews. Aka Tokugawa. So it's not as simple as dealing with water mongolians.

The problem is it takes a long time to prove who's right.

The low birth rate is concentrated on eastern China, Western China has stable birth rate. Also the population of China might be higher than reported because the ethnic cencus was known to be unreliable. People actually believed that the Uyghur population is actually 40 million. When I was in China I still saw lots of kids compared to Japan so this shouldn't be to concerning.
