NO! Stating historical facts and the atrocities and crimes done to Chinese people is fundamentally a moral right and a basic respect towards humanity, those statements should be rightfully said with ZERO pushbacks. Saying this is a wedge to relations is as ridiculous as saying Anti-Nazism is driving a wedge towards Germany and Japan, so people should just accept not being an Anti-Nazi if we want to be friends with them. That is absolutely bogus, any equal relations are formed on the basis of mutual respect towards history and human dignity, so why should our history and dignity be whitewash and denied for the basis of this relationship??? You know what is actually driving a wedge between China and Russia? that would be Russia itself:
1. the Russian government's constant alignment with India and doing things that harms the interest of China. ALSO the irrational distrust of Chinese people and jealousy towards the current development of China despite nothing to justify this, (even more ironic that historically they are the one whole stole from us, not the other way round, this is the typical 恶人先告状 guilty conscience). The Russian people will not tell you this straight away, but the general opinions of China and Chinese among Russian people already speak volumes (most are negative and full of distrust, projecting their imperialist nature on us, viewing our development as something malicious which are completely unfounded and showed their lack of self-awareness towards their own past. This yellow peril thinking just strengthens the idea that leopard never change its spots: they were once a colonial empire like the UK and US after all). I've seen this myself firsthand when interacting with Russians.
2. the Russian government as well as its people's constant whitewashing and denying the crimes and atrocities done towards Chinese people. This probably also stems from their education. Just literally talk to any REAL Russian person, or go to any Russian sites like Pikabu or VK, most Russian people straight up denied the massacres they had done against Chinese people (such as 1900 Anti-Chinese pogroms, Hailanpao Massacre, JiangDong sixty four villages Massacre, The burning of Aigun, participation in the eight-nation alliance etc. etc.) claiming that none of those ever happened, they also denied they stole land from China and instead stating that the unequal treaties such as Treaty of Aigun and Convention of Peking are just "Russians helping the Chinese to demarcate their borders" which is a complete revisionism of history, this is NO different from Japan ultra-rightwings completely denying their WW2 atrocities. Some even more twisted Russians even turned around and claimed that we stole their ZhenBao/"Damansky" island which is more than nonsensical. These are their true disgusting sentiments and if you guys talk to any real Russians or been on any Russian site, you will completely understand my anger! So please go ahead and open your eyes!
Also, Crimea situation is absolutely not comparable to South Tibet or other disputed regions, these kinds of disingenuous comparisons are only made by Russians and Anti-Chinese sinophobes alike. Those regions had been undisputedly Chinese for centuries, but were either invaded by foreign forces or propped up due to foreign infiltration. Meanwhile, even the most delusional Russian would tell you that Russia got Crimea by invading Ukraine, a country recognized as a sovereign nation even by Russia itself. (p.s. Whether this invasion is justified or not due to NATO expansionism is a completely different conversation to have, although frankly I would caution myself from giving full support to Russia considering that "protecting Russian speakers we settled there" had always been Russian traditional playbook for invasion, they used the same exact settler-colonialism tactics when they invaded Yili City and stole our Outer-Xinjiang regions such as the Lake Balkhash and greater Tian Shan region as well. As much as I hate NATO, I also cannot fully condone Russia's BS out of my conscience. This is a complex topic in itself.)
Your comment is the typical victim blaming type sentiment, which is a shame and a tight slap to the face of all the countless Chinese people who spilled blood at the hands of the evil Russian/USSR imperialist. Why should their cries be covered up for it not to be consider a "wedge" towards Russia??? Why could we not even bring to light the history where our people were bullied and massacred??? and in that case is this relationship still based on mutual respect and equality???
And conversely, why does Russia's present day geopolitical games and distrust against China, general yellow peril sentiments among Russian populations and officials, and the outright whitewashing, denial and revisionism of historic crimes against the Chinese people not considered a Russian "wedge" towards China relations??? Have you asked yourself that???
There should absolutely be no reason that one should not speak about historical facts. I will always be here to remind about the right facts and history of our people until the day when all the wrongs done to us had been righted. I do not care you are USA, Russia, "current political friends" or Foes, distorting history and having deep-rooted racist thinking behind our backs will never ever be tolerated by me. This is a fundamental principle.
