Apparently the signing bonuses were in the tens of millions. I don't know if as high as the 100 million number some threw around, but AI engineers are quietly becoming the new sports stars. The war for talent is heating up and Chinese companies better take note to retain as well as attract overseas talent.
That's the advantage of having such high stock valuation, you can always buy talent. Money talks.

Not sure what China can do, few Chinese companies are able to shell out that number. They won't ban Chinese citizens from working in American AI, and I don't think that would make a difference either

The floated around $100 million compensation package is (from Meta spokespeople themselves) for top leadership for Meta's AI projects, the actual engineers doing a majority of the work don't get that kind of compensation.

"These statements are untrue - the size and structure of these compensation packages have been misrepresented all over the place,” says Meta spokesperson Andy Stone. “Some people have chosen to greatly exaggerate what’s happening for their own purposes.”

The UK will pay a parking fee to India for hosting its stranded F-35B at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport, where it made an emergency landing after encountering technical issues during Indo-Pacific exercises aimed at deterring China.

Initially the UK was reluctant to move the jet into a hangar due to its sensitive military technologies on board; however, after logistical issues arose, the jet has now been moved to the Air India hangar at the airport.

Remember how the US whined that their anti-Chinese celebrity activists couldn't have free reign in China...? It was China was violating a natural law of the universe. Now you have Jews whining about China allowing Kanye West perform in China when he had just performed in Japan and South Korea right before without a peep from them.
