They will be followers provided the authority can demonstrate they are worth being called that. Otherwise at least Chinese will just rise up and overthrow just like it has done many times. That's what's wrong with this blind respect for authority no matter what Asians have. It means they always see someone has be a higher authority than them and they will always be a follower.
I feel theres a generational gap with this observation - the young mainland students & emigres certainly do not have a blind respect for authority, whereas emigres from poorer backgrounds that moved in the 70's and 80's (mostly cantonese / hong kong from my observations that ran restaurants, laundromats and other low value add industries) seem to have this kind of view. That's what's wrong with this blind respect for authority no matter what Asians have. It means they always see someone has be a higher authority than them and they will always be a follower.
Every time one of these major conflicts or disasters happen you hear retards saying China is gonna invade Taiwan now.
At this point I wonder if that's even needed. The US rep is going down while China's clout is going up. Much like how Speed went to China, you have a lot of famous Taiwan bloggers doing it and coming back as wumaos. Most importantly people in Taiwan just don't have time for this shit anymore. Like why do they need to die in a fight with China? What are they fighting for? Lai has failed to give a proper answer since he himself is too busy focusing on killing his political rivals so how are people supposed to go along with it?
It is possible we could still get a one country two system to avoid the need for fighting. Outsiders don't seem to understand that Taiwan could surrender tomorrow and it's people will just go on with life since it's not like it's a significantly different country ruling. People just don't see a point dying for US benefits
