You are absolutely right. But USSR collapsed precisely because Russians no longer believed in the communist ideology and want to ditch the other nationalities, who were perceived to be leeching off Russians. It was an implosion from the inside.

Current Russians dont understand Putin. so i doubt they were that bright at time. and Yeltsin when exited government he got titles from Kazan and Tennis academy built in Kazan. so what ever happened it started from Kazan. they want to maintain good relationship with CIS so reason will not come out in public.
and currently Putin signed decree to elevate this poet. The poet father was Imam and sat in Sharia court during Russian empire. so views are influenced. This VK video from December 2024 . Vice-Rector of Dagestan state university quoted this Poet Poem from Soviet times but what surprizing was Putin response that he will not allow Science to grind human souls. it is like rescuing Science from some one. This policy decision on Science using this poet teachings.
