It's not exactly hard for foreign companies to gain approval though, they just need to prove to China there is no way those magnets and materials can end up in sanctioned and/or hostile entities such as US military which by extension means all western military. Permanent Chinese government compliance office staffed with inspectors, with oversight and veto power over all activity at western firms should be sufficient.
Werent US def sec pursuading asian countries to increase def spending? How will they supply tho, with RE/magnet ban? Some finished product inventory? Or like pay first, product later setup?

The idiotic IAF statement aside, do we have any credible estimates on the casualties of both Russia and Ukraine?

It's kind of weird how these MSN are only eligible to report Russian casualties but not Ukrainian ones, despite the latter side being the ones who need to abduct people on the street to fill their ranks...
I think following the projection rule we can start with Ukrainian death being >1 million.

Wow! You can really appreciate what a company like CATL does from this video. The US blocking this company from the US is insane. There's a whole possible business out there for new American EV companies or even customized EVs which no one seems to be doing. But Americans get upset that China makes just $10 from every $1000 iPhone. They certainly aren't going to like China getting more than a dollar for every hundred dollars from this.

They've been talking about rare earth for 15 years, at some point you just have to re-evaluate the assumption that China's RE industry is even replicable elsewhere, the modern 21st century world as we know it has never existed without Chinese industry after all.
With the current controls, it’s only a matter of time before someone, somewhere will find a solution, since they don’t have a choice.

The existing refining technology and efficiency may not be replicable anytime soon but never say never when it comes to new and novel ways of handling the refining process, tho it will still be years away from commercial viability and scale.

If China wants to continue the ‘if you don’t want to sell me shit, then you are not making the shit’ strat, then it has to leverage the current period of reliance into something more permanent.

Well, there is always something mighty called the wait list. Plus Trump will probably just want big numbers that he can plaster on documents and quote to shut people down. It’s his final term anyway, if nothing major happens in the US, so what does he care about actually delivering.

You mean like a chinses national " foreign agent"? Also seem Japan media asked for the nationality of suspect during Chinese MoFA press briefing. Anyway, hope not, but if its is false flag, who could be behind it tho?
Also i remember b4, there were some "NGO like" guys who travel to a "crime site" to give flower and accused their gov of promoting "japanese hate" before right? Not sure of they visited other flood or earthqauke struck area after that tho...
....

Well, think about it this way. Every single time when there was a rapprochement between China, Japan, and South Korea, something always happens to reignite tensions again. This definitely won't be the last incident.

They can still buy Chinese made stuff with rare earth already inside. If they really need rare earths for something like F35 they could probably strip a Chinese EV apart for the rare earth and it would still be cheaper than building an entirely new supply chain. Rare earths require insane amounts of Capital expenditures and super slim profit margin.

Also, China just needs to delay western companies enough to catch up and surpass, the leverage would then be with tech and not materials.

If you are a Chinese national , it is probably not a good idea to try to smuggle in some ban biological fungus that can devastate crops.

I think these 2 tried to smuggle something against or neutral to Chinese wishes into the US to study at an American lab in Michigan. I basically cannot think of any instance where you bring a sample from lab A to lab B for study at the detriment of lab B. This person also didn't think it was a big deal because if she thought it would be a high stakes game with US customs, a fungus can easily be smuggled by smearing some spores into a hankerchief and folding it away into your luggage. The only way she could have been caught is if she brought test tubes/petri dishes with samples inside.
