No shit, China also has similar plans.

Using what weapons exactly? I don't know of any non-nuclear weapons China can use with the range to strike anywhere on the mainland USA.

This is why it is imperative for China to have bases in Cuba and Venezuela when it starts out-producing everyone in military equipment and can deploy 5% of its forces to bases in the Caribbean and Latin America, threatening every single city in the United States.

Oh here we go, I thought it was something like this now Old Man Hu from GT has confirmed it.

So more context for those who haven't been keeping up with this news. A few days ago there was a piece of Taiwanese news going around that they have deployed a new anti-stealth radar to Penghu Island in the middle of Taiwan Strait. The claim was that this radar is capable of detecting J-20 stealth fighter.

After about a day of no reaction from China, Taiwan and Forbes then started blowing up with a second piece of news that the first bit of news that revealed this radar was an intelligence leak and shouldn't have happened. All these talk show on Taiwan TV was saying how this was terrible and whoever responsible need to pay a price, and on top of this the US was furious that Taiwan leaked out this information.

I always thought this was a bit dodgy, because the first bit if news when it "leaked" said the radar was developed by National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology. So I already thought if this radar was domestic why the fuck would the US care. And on top of this the actual photo of the radar in question had an antenna that seemed too small for low frequency radar.

What Hu has come out and said basically "you guys are playing such an obvious trick that old intelligence dog like me can spot it from a mile away". Hu's position is that the radar is run of the mill and both the initial "leak" and the follow up brouhaha are both manufactured and aimed at boosting confidence at home. Hu adds that defence around Taiwan today is weaker than even the defence around Beiping in 1949.

I think Hu mentioning Beiping is also a deliberate mind game too. Beiping (now Beijing) was liberated during the closing stages of the civil war without a shot being fired after being surrounded on all sides. Many commentators, even those in Taiwan believe "peaceful reunification by threat of force" or "Beiping Model" has already began. I think Hu deliberately used the old name for Beijing here specifically for this purpose.

You see all these mind game going on currently, it's very interesting time to be alive.

Really?! War breaks out in SCS, you think China would escalate by striking US naval shipyards in Virginia or factories in California? I don’t think so.
May I suggest to never make any declaration in absolute terms as if what you think can happen, will happen and unfolds in the exact Command and Conquer scenarios you have in your head. Under what precedents are you basing your assumptions from? The Persian gulf War? Lol when according to the Pentagon studies during Operation Desert Storm, was achieved primarily by precision guided munitions. This was not the case. In the end, Saddam’s formations were simply, as was expected, grossly outmatched by the well-trained US military and were effectively bombed and shelled into panic retreat by uncontested air power and armor. Ninety percent of the munitions used to destroy Iraq’s Army were good old “dumb” munitions (Operation Desert Storm Was Not Won By Smart Weaponry Alone. Jackie Mansky,The Smithsonian, January 20, 2016) and in effect, the campaign was very reminiscent of many operations of WWII, albeit fought against a grossly incompetent adversary.

From where ? using which bases? japan, guam? What makes you think those won't be obliterated by DF series missiles, and if the us dares to attack China factories from japanese bases, then fukushima daiichi nuclear plant which still spewing radioactive materials will be fair target, when that plant is hit almost all of japan will be unliveable thus no more us bases, jsdf will cease to exist, what an optimal outcome for China
and what makes you think american bombers, jets, won't be shot down by China air defences? This ain't 1960s anymore
Wouldn't the U.SA. just love it? We end up having 3 maybe 4 Asian countries doing untold damage to each other and in the end, the U.S. remains No1 for decades, maybe centuries.

thats the reason why China won't be baited into war and constantly reminding its neighbours that a war in asia will be started by the americans, so far looks like only south korea got the message and thus remain neutral
i have a feeling that its only a matter of time before japan also becomes neutral, they are in terminal decline, when Chinese economic and military power grows to a certain level that it overwhelms japan, it will have no choice but to become neutral
Also if you see the maneuver that China did lately, it won't let the americans to dictate the location of the battlefield, flashpoints has reemerged in ukraine, it has relieved the pressures on both north korea and iran

Over the years I have read that the US subs are more than capable of dealinga serious blow to the PLAN as wellas China's merchant fleet.

There's no such thing as "China's merchant fleet".

Chinese cargo ships carry merchandise from all over the world, to everywhere in the world. This isn't the age of colonialism, where New World ships carry wealth back to their colonial masters.

As for "dealing a serious blow to the PLAN", the Taiwan strait is a mere 160 km wide. Easily covered by underwater sensors, any hostile sub venturing into the area would not be venturing out.
