I was interacting with a bunch of Chinese Christians and they didn't like Xi. They said he placed too many restrictions on Christianity in China. But they kept talking about how bad and pernicious Islam's influence is, in ME as well as China. I'm like, you can't have your cake and eat it too. Since the authorities had to crack down on Islamic terror activity, why should Christianity be allowed to grow into a powerful lobby? What gives Christians Christian privilege. LOL.

Gotta be some irony in talking about how dangerous religions like Islam and Hinduism (karma and casteism), but still want Christianity to be the state religion of China. Jeez.

But I get why they don't like Xi. Can't be helped. You can't allow powerful interest groups like oligarchs and Christians to take over the administration. Can't please everyone, especially those hell bent on protecting their selfish lobby.

Now that they want to convert me, I'm going to have to break it to them then I, uh, well I'll call myself Jewish temporarily.

You contradicted yourself in the text above. Diplomacy and media are intimately linked. When media is weak, the diplomat's job becomes much harder.

Both Chinese media and Chinese diplomats are atrocious communicators. There are a handful of CGTN reporters who do a decent job like Wang Guan, but they are the exception to the rule.

Have you seen China's Ambassador to the United States, Cui Tianka, speak? He does the typical Chinese thing which is pointless rambling with a thick accent droning on about "win win cooperation shared future for humanity" nonsense while allowing Western propaganda to go unchallenged. The us China relationship is the most crucial to China and this is the best they came up with. Logically, that means many other Chinese diplomat are even more incompetent at communication than him, who is already profoundly bad at communication.

I'll give you another example of how stupid these people are. In reference to Australia's aggression towards China, some Chinese diplomat said something like "Australia is the gum on our shoe". I saw stupid Chinese people cheering this on and calling him a "manly hero". That comment makes China look like a arrogant condescending jerk. It doesn't make China look like the victim of Australian aggression and atrocity propaganda. China appears guilty of whatever accusations Australia invents.

You're arguing in bad faith. Pointing out flaws to fix is not the same as desiring to overthrow a government.

This is just tantamount to giving up. China is different from the West yet we learned their language, eat their foods, mastered their science, learned their classical music, ride in cars, and made our own satellite system but we need to stop at mastering psychological warfare to protect ourselves?
All these gnashing of teeth and assumptions are wasted when reality and history should have already taught you one basic fact that RACE, CULTURE play the most significant part as to why CHINA AND THE WEST or more precisely the West, led by the U.S. can never accept China regardless of proficiency in English or whatever psychological mumbo jumbo you like to assert (absent any conclusive data) that if China’s media only play the same jedi mind trick like the west then all (western led world which is not the majority of the world) these negative views would have been negated.

Ask Japan how's their Plaza accord taste like. Wasn't Japan a DEMOCRACY? And a U.S. vassal state? If the answers to my sarcastic questions are YES then that fact should have already given you some clues. Was the rise of Japan as a technological power helped us Asians in the eyes of the west especially in America, among red blooded Americans? Did their racist joke stopped? The views on overall Japanese and Asians became positive? Perhaps you ought to ask the family of the Chinese American (Vincent Chin) who was killed back at the height of U.S. Japan trade issues, when he was mistaken to be Japanese so those two "misunderstood" Americans beat the man senselessly and for their crimes were sentenced with a harsh penalty of: "At the killers’ trial, the men each received a $3,000 fine and zero prison time."

If your thesis was remotely even correct then the spate of violence against Asian Americans or Asians in in western western wouldn't be this prevalent or even remotely acceptable. After all, studies after studies in America, Canada shows that as an ethnic population our group is seen as one of the top most successful in academics, business, and the top earners in society whites included. But the perception of perpetual foreigner couldn't be dissolved in the eyes and hearts of the Anglo-Saxon people. So spare us the lecture of China must do this or do that nonsensensical b.s. about if only China was good at media trolling or how to frame the narrative then China would be better understood.

Western civilization based on my reading of their history from the Greeks, Roman, British and Western Eurpean history they only respect POWER AND HARD POWER the rest are just pure f..ng window dressing. If you don't believe me just try to visit any of American military forums and read what they say about China. They think it's a joke militarily or how they talk about using nukes casually like popping gum or something. Now compared that to the attitude of many here, myself included, despite my seething anger towards their arrogance I don't talk or would suggest nuking any western countries for shits and giggle or in their words: to teach them a lesson.

This video just came out today on this very same topic. Zheng Ruolin's analysis is that Israel and Jewish diaspora is attempting a reply of their cold war tactic of promoting conflict between the Islamic world and Soviet Union/China (see Chechen Wars). This is in line with the long term interest of Israel as it reduces pressure on them in the Middle East. This long term goal is concurrent with the more short term goal of putting obstacles in the way of China's rise (which the Israelis might not care very much but makes the position a good sell to western countries).
For those who does not know who's Zheng Ruolin 郑若麟、like myself, here's an old (2018), fascinating article on his life journey and career as well as the state of the nations of China and France in 1980s and 1990s whereas the conditions between the two were akin to sky and earth.

At the end of 1989, while my study was coming to an end, a French publishing house, La Découverte, approached me. It was preparing to publish a collection called L’Etat du Monde (The Current Situation of the World), which would include a book on China, called L’Etat de la Chine (The Current Situation of China). The then editor-in-chief, Pierre Gentelle, invited me to write a chapter on Chinese media, which I did a bit hastily. Frankly speaking, I did not well understand France or China at the time.

But again, at that time, how many people in the world (including the Chinese) understood China? Twenty years later, I reread this book, and noticed that almost all the most famous sinologists today had worked on this book, which means that this book had already reached the ultimate level reached by French research on China. But I must say that in this book, almost all the predictions made about the future development of China have been belied by the facts. However, it is not the fault of Pierre Gentelle, but rather the “fault” of China: who could have believed that this country would become the second largest economy in the world 20 years later?

It does make sense, and it would plausibly account for the mysterious death of the Chinese ambassador to Israel on the eve of Pompeo's arrival to Israel. Perhaps a gift to the americans from the Chosen People?
Any further info/reading/link (EN/CN) on this issue? I think that I once read something mentioned that this ambassador had some speciality / knowledge that might make him being disliked / feared of by some party in Israel (Mossad!?)

"Du Wei 杜伟 was found dead in his Herzliya apartment on 17 May 2020. His death came in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, and a few days after US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's visit to Israel, during which he assailed China and tried to pressure Israel to curb Chinese investments. These circumstances have led to various conspiracy theories about the cause of his death."

It certainly makes sense and we can speculate, but my guess is as good as yours.

I wanna introduce an author and some of his books :) just in case some readers here have never heard about this name. But I think some active members here, those who are fluent in reading Chinese, may have somehow read the books, and in fact may be able to add more info :) please...

This author and his first volume earned his reputation among Chinese readers for the book was published right in advance of the failures and collapses of the Bear Stearns and Lehman Brothers in 2008, the Wall Street Financial Crisis. The book's author correctly predicted a banking crisis in the US in 2008

BOOKS - SONG Hongbing 宋鸿兵: Currency Wars (货币战争 | 貨幣戰爭) 1, 2, 3, 4, 5...

The author: Song Hongbing 宋鸿兵

Currency Wars (simplified Chinese: 货币战争; traditional Chinese: 貨幣戰爭; pinyin: Huòbì zhànzhēng) by Song Hongbing 宋鸿兵, also known as Currency Wars, is a bestselling book in China, and is reportedly being read by many senior level government and business leaders in China. Originally published in 2007 the book gained a resurgence in 2009 and is seen as a prominent exponent of a recently emerged genre labeled "economic nationalist" literature. The premise of this book is that Western countries are ultimately controlled by a group of private banks, which, according to the book, runs their central banks. This book uses the claim that the Federal Reserve is a private body to support its role. The book's author correctly predicted a banking crisis in the US in 2008. More than one million copies of this book have been sold.

In July 2009, the book was followed by a sequel, Currency Wars 2: World of Gold Privilege 《货币战争2:金权天下》, published by China Industry and Commerce Publishing House (ISBN 978-9573265214), which The Financial Times reported as being one of the most popular books in China by late 2009. More than two million copies have been sold. In this book, Song predicted that by 2024, the world's single currency system will mature.

In May 2011, Currency Wars 3: Financial High Frontier 《货币战争3:金融高边疆》, a second sequel was published by Yuan-Liou Publishing (ISBN 978-9573267843). It discuss more specifically the modern Chinese History (from Chiang Kai-shek to the depreciation in the long term trend of U.S. dollar) seen from a Currency War perspective. It pushes towards an isolationist financial policy.

According to the book, the western countries in general and the US in particular are controlled by a clique of international bankers, which use currency manipulation (hence the title) to gain wealth by first loaning money in USD to developing nations and then shorting their currency. The Japanese Lost decade, the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis, the Latin American financial crisis and others are attributed to this cause. It also claims that the Rothschild Family has the wealth of 5 trillion dollars whereas Bill Gates only has 40 billion dollars.

Song also is of the opinion that the famous U.S. central bank, the Federal Reserve, is not a department of state functions, but several private banks operated by the private sector, and that these private banks are loyal to the ubiquitous Rothschild family.

On June 4, 1963, President Kennedy signed an executive order, which, as an amendment to Executive Order 10289, delegated the authority to issue silver certificates (notes convertible to silver on demand) to the Secretary of the Treasury. Song says the direct consequence was that the Federal Reserve lost its monopoly to control money. But it never happened. JFK went busted!

The book looks back at history and argues that fiat currency itself is a conspiracy; it sees in the abolition of representative currency and the installment of fiat currency a struggle between the "banking clique" and the governments of the western nations, ending in the victory of the former. It advises the Chinese government to keep a vigilant eye on China's currency and instate a representative currency. The book, published in 2007, also correctly described and warned of the various forms of derivative speculation used by Wall Street which eventually became the causes of massive margin call sell offs and stock market crash in late 2008.

In 2007, one of China's best-selling books (sold over one million copies) was
Song's Currency Wars ("Huo Bi Zhan Zheng"), a screed about a world-domination plot
by international bankers who were about to make China their next target.
In this year's sequel, Currency Wars 2, Song describes a cabal of financiers
who plan to introduce a single world currency to replace the dollar.

Song Hongbing introduces the 17 International Banking Families he believes are pulling the strings of global finance, and directing the course of world history:

(01) The ROTHSCHILD familiy: the ‘godfathers’ of international finance, whose influence spans 200 years
(02) The BLEICHRODER family: the trusted advisor of Germany’s Iron Chancellor Bismark
(03) The OPPENHEIM family: from Cologne in Germany
(04) The WARBURG family: from Hamburg in Germany
(05) The SELINGMAN family: originally from Bavaria in Germany but finding success on Wall Street
(06) The SCHIFF family: originally from Frankfurt, but making it big in the USA
(07) The SCHRODER family, originally from Hamburg but finding success in London and New York
(08) The SPEYER family, originally from Frankfurt
(09) The MENDELSOHNS family from Berlin
(10) The BARING family from England, who were associated with the Rothschilds in the 19th Century
(11) The HOPE family from Amsterdam, The Netherlands
(12) The FOULD family: advisors to the French royal family
(13) The MALLET familily from France
(14) The PEREIRE family from France
(15) The MIRABAUDS family, from Switzerland
(16) The ROCKEFELLER family from the USA
(17) The MORGAN family from the USA

Book covers: Currency Wars (货币战争 | 貨幣戰爭) 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 authored by Song Hongbing 宋鸿兵

NOTE: DO NOT confuse these books by Song Hongbing with the one of the same title in English authored by James Rickards, which was published at much later period, years after the maiden release by Song!

I don't believe it's about putting obstacles in China's "rise" (the word really should be "return"). It's more about getting China to be Israel's next benefactor. Israel know that a new host is needed to leech o
Israel has helped China a lot. I dont know if some posters here know about it, but Israel has exported a lot of US military technology and it helped China tremendously.

Their Silicon Valleown ecosystem is also super strong and China is buying a lot of companies from there to help China's competitiveness.

Israel carries some baggage (Palestinian issue, Iran rivalry) but it is a very good country to have as a friend.

So, China should at least carry on with their friendly relations with Israel and even try to upgrade them if it can fend off US pressure on Israel

Israel seems to be very China neutral politically and it has helped China immensely in the past. But it's also gotta many things in return such as China staying out of middle eastern politics, China staying out of American action in the middle east, and not arming Israel's enemies with any offensive weapons, not even a single bolt of something more sophisticated than a rifle and bullet.

China paid handsomely for any tech boost that could be quickly supplied. It was up to China to learn and understand and reverse engineer. This includes early missile tech back when China simply had no solid tech foundation to stand on. Sino Soviet split was another big boost where western nations wooed China with weapons deals. China paid fairly for everything... in fact the only thing China didn't pay for were the flanker IP. Well it didn't pay Sukhoi directly. It can be considered that it didn't even pay Russia the fair amount despite only being able to provide political backing. Then again no country has ever considered IP respect worthy when they were poor and down. Only when they're the ones who have net benefit, does the shouting begin. I don't recall any of them performing due diligence in their time. Too many examples to list.

You can provide tech and support to some nations and even hold their hand but it could still not happen or take twice as long and twice as much resources spent. I don't think Israel can take all the credit. They had tech developed by themselves and others and sold them to China. And even here it's a tiny portion of the MIC. If not Israel for the first missile tech, the western ones from Italy and France were good enough classes.
