Completely agree they should stop when the current contracts are through and proceed with the real frigate
Ofc better have a new saying 1/3 more expensive but twice as powerful and even a little less numerous cuz even with 8 anit-ships missiles actuals have a too low AAW armament can't be a true capable MSC and USN is not China which have utility for a Coastal Fleet with Corvettes 056, MB 022 etc... need a FFG successor of Perrys i am certain.

Facepalm and fault to politic and US Navy Policy also don' t need a super fast Corvette for costal waters pfffff !

We all seem to agree we need a Perry replacement but will we get one that's the question or will it end up being a modified LCS version with limited range armor weapons and short staffed that is the big big question

From reading about all the foreign frigates I'm tending to lean towards something with 32 in up VLS cells kinda weird I don't think there is any chance of that happening here

I add LCS programm/idea have about 15 years a time or revolution in military affairs was the buzzword with Army transformation new organisation/strucure, new weapons generation Stryker etc.. more versatile less numerous but also powerful more affordable than older ofc not Nothing of it !!! make me laughing on the floor :D and it is a complete failure also enough similar in European Armies pfffff again :D :) and we have see suddenly a wake up in 2014 especialy with Crimea, finaly !!!

yeah sorry man, keep dreaming :) I was upset I mean they committed perhaps twenty bil seven years ago to buy things which now can't sail under their own power ... true revolution in naval warfare
They actually committed to LCS when Obama was elected I remember Mcain harping about it in 2008 at one of their debates

Yes as FREMM French, 054A 32 is the right number of cell's for power for a capable FFG but also minimum number necessary coz impossible or almost to reload VLS at sea and few navies even USN have much port enough close of operations area and again less with ammos stock, so you need have a suff. number before going to these few numerous ports.
USN have the more big number in foreign countries about 10 ports with ammos stock remains limited...
2 to Japan, surely possible to Pusan, Guam, considering Pearl Harbor, Bahrain, Rota, Suda Bay/Crete, Gaeta, Diego Garcia, Guantanamo, Singapore/Changhi normaly..

And yet we would be happy with just 8-16 cell VLS shows ya what we would be willing to do just to get something resembling you all's ship heck if we're me we would be building Fremm 35-40 of them from you all right now that's one impressive ship ya got there of course over here and with U.S. made weapons radars etc. in other words license production hmm

We would be happy with 8 cells if they were set up to be quad pcked with ESSMs. That is then 32 missiles that give (with the proper sensors) a medium range area coverage to the ships around the frigate.

That is the minimumm...and that is for AAW.

We really should give it a minumum of 16 cells and load it with 32 ESSMs and then eight LRASMs.

I guess the most important word in your post is
"unfunded"
because I heard they hadn't have the money for Palau Jun 28, 2017

OK I know the Caroline Islands aren't in the SCS but post here anyway
