Littoral Combat Ships (LCS)

Its the exact same ship just with a bigger stern. Probably to show the brass that all their LCS, current and future, can be converted.

It looks like they shrank the helicopter pad. Or am I wrong? The large pad was one of the benefits of the Austal LCS. Perhaps the only one, tbh.

To me the only advantage to this is the addition of 32 VLS cells the deletion of the hellfire isn't a big deal but it's a navy requirement per RFI and if it retains tha same water jet propulsion its range will most likely not meet the requirements for range so at least to me it's a non starter but does help in relieving the main complaint if Very Weak Armament

Clearly didn't read it.
The two major modifications consist in a longer hull (456 feet / 139 meters compared to 418 feet / 127 meters for the earlier design) and a CODAD propulsion system with controlable picth propellers (CPP). Earlier Austal Frigate designs featured a similar hull form to the Independence-class LCS as well as its waterjet/gaz turbine propulsion arrangement.
So they extended the hull 12 meters and added a new propulsion system.
The specs

Nah got to excited bout the VLS addition to read much else the only I could say now is the Hull is still Aluminum still bothers me terribly and the article I read didn't mention all the systems just the length increase and the VLS

Please correct if I'm wrong but the RFI stated a 6000nm range and the hellfire system for dealing with the swarm boat issues

Anything that size gets hit by a modern or near future warhead, it's toast anyways, imo. Aluminum or steel.

Correction on my part Went back and reread the article it clearly states what Terran Empire said just was to excited bout the VLS the next question is as always How Much Does this thing Cost Remember we keep building more of these things but Zero Modules for them
