India needs foreign technology in a lot of sectors. Chinese currently have the most cost effective modern rail technology available.
Ignoring Chinese technology is just shooting themselves in the foot I think.

I read from comments somewhere that it was about loans from AIIB. Choosing the Chinese one will give them loans with reduces interests ir something like that.

Well, if this is considered India shooting themselves in the foot.

Then missing out on BRI and RCEP, joining QUAD, waging a Cold War with China, and antagonizing neighbours is like India shooting themselves in the head. I don't think you can really comeback from a shot to the head.
