JF-17/FC-1 Fighter Aircraft thread

China has openly offered a J10 derivative for export at arms shows. But it’s easy to offer hard to sell. JF17 was built for export to Pakistan. A Guaranteed buyer.
It’s a lower end fighter which fits better with the needs of most of China’s would be buyers.
Most of those who might be more interested in J10 are either shopping 4th Gen options which are plentiful of looking for the next Gen or under economic conditions that prohibit buying of anything.

Whats the price difference between a J-10 and a JF-17? If Argentina are only interested in buying a few surely it would be worth getting the J-10 for a little more.
Argentina has been talking about buying the JF-17 since the early 2010s. It's really more about getting their own house in order to finally decide on buying any new warplanes at all, rather than deciding on which platform.

Well then
I'm not really sure if this is legit or Indian fake news. All the sources seem to be Indian.
I imagine there is a shred of truth since HAL seems to be heavily marketing their products to less prosperous South American countries.
However, the seriousness as to how willing any country is willing to buy Tejas (not even fully operational with IAF itself) is debatable.
Especially considering the Dhruv fiasco with Ecuador.

Lmao what Tejas? Is this a joke Indian article?..

Plus a bunch of strange things in the article
But according to recent news published on various Chinese media, just as the order for the Dragon Fighter between China and Argentina was about to be signed and delivered, Argentina suddenly change its mind
doesn't provide any sources...

In addition if "Argentine suddenly changes its mind" then most likely it is not even a serious and professional customer

Not only they ask China to reduce prices, It even pressured they can go for Indian LCA fighter jets.
They can go for the Indian jets and get that high quality goods from them lol

Seems like Argentina finally realised the disadvantages of JF-17 fighter.
Seems like a badly written article. There is a reason why JF-17 is so cheap. If they want a top-end fighter they can get some Rafales and stop complaining and wasting our time

Recently, the large order of 12 JF-17 fighters between China and Argentina has changed.
Is 12 JF-17 a "large" order... If they want a truly lower price per fighter, they can go for a minimum of 50 JF-17

In response, China said – $50 million price of the JF-17 fighter is absolutely worthy of its performance.
Price is fair. It can only go lower for Pakistan bcz they were an early partner for the program.

Argentina was also subject to an arms embargo from the United Kingdom at that time, and this positioning has continued to this day

Allies are reluctant to sell weapons and equipment to Argentina, and even France once refused to sell weapons and equipment to Argentina.
Oh boy, wait till they hear that their favourite Indian Tejas contain foreign components

Does any member here knows if there is a credible source for these article's claims?

Oh, they can indeed go for Indian Tejas.

But they'll have to find replacements for seats and radome. The radome, the ejection seats are British. There might be other things UK supply towards the Tejas fighter jet.

As per above, besides the radome and ejection seats, UK companies like Wilson's Ltd and Lee Products Ltd supply Metal alloys And Hydraulic systems respectively

Ironically the original source might actually be a Chinese article.

There a lot of very stupid articles in China as well. The strategy for them to get clicks is to basically create an outrageous premise (like Argentina buying Indian jet) and then milking the nationalist outrage. The strategy actually works pretty well with India related news because with how much the Indians brag, it is pretty hard to tell which news are authentic and which are not.

p.s. plagiarism of Chinese fake news reports confirmed. They also copied this alleged interview from Pakistanis pilot Omar regarding the J-10C.
