JF-17/FC-1 Fighter Aircraft thread

Only in this case there is clearly one better aircraft and that is the Gripen. At some point acting fanboyish about a low-price, low-tech aircraft gets quite silly.

You're the real fanboy. I don't think highly of the JF-17 at all. But what is amazing is that it holds itself against something that costs so much more. Can you give concrete evidence how the Gripen is better?

Anyone who talks generalities without getting into important details is the one being silly. About 4 years ago, this discussion took place and a good bit of material was shared, dissected, & discussed. Its too bad you did not see it. You can see more of this stuff @ PDF, JF-17 Information Pool thread.

I would very much like to know what makes you think that JF-17 is actually low tech?

You mean things stuff like.

F414G vs RD-33 derivat
- better thrust to weight ratio
- supercruise capacities
- superior fuel consumption

Airframe design
E-M theory focused delta-canard design vs a design with Chengdu F-7 roots

and other toys like larger AESA radars and superior EW suits with a wider support of various EW and targeting pods.

Even ignoring things that the Gripen E has seen way more testing and evaluation than the JF-17 block III

RD33 output matches F414 despite the slightly better thrust to weight still going to Gripen so nothing to brag about there. Gripen supercruise with a load? Total conjecture and most likely untrue so you're making things up with zero evidence here. Superior fuel consumption thanks to a better engine may be so and this along with greater reliability is another actual plus for the Gripen. Kinematic performance I will also agree with you on. AESA radar will probably first appear on JF-17 in the next block. It's just a thought on Gripen for now. Superior EW suites is just a guess again. Who really knows how capable it is. Although they sure like bragging about "sensor fusion" and "data sharing" like other modern fighters don't have similar systems. Let's remember that AESA is planned for next upgrade for Gripen. We know how slow things move and there's been no new buyers so things will move even slower if at all. JF-17's AESA is currently being tested. I don't buy that Gripen's EW suite is definitely better. There's been no solid evidence to suggest this. Why do people automatically assume European is always better. Selex radars have been pretty underwhelming.

Which aircraft are flying ASEA let’s check the list

F22 Raptor, F35 lighting, F16 E/F Desert Falcons and F16V ?

You get the picture

Enemy’s fighting PAF will avoid dogfight NATO members strategy is first look, first launch and first kill so is USAF

PAF disadvantage was long range now BVR and ASEA solved it

No weakness anymore in close and long range

You don't even know that the Gripen's supercruise capacities was successful tested in 2009 and the E variant will be able to archive and maintain supercruise with a meaningful air-to-air combat load.
And then having the balls claiming I would make up things.

It's pretty obvious that there is more fanboy wishful thinking behind the FC-1 then actual facts.
