JF-17/FC-1 Fighter Aircraft thread

considering UK still has China on its arms embargo list, I don't think it really has much leverage here.

If they sold to India and kept the embargo, not only we can shove it in their face we can also improve relations with one of the biggest players in South America.

The Brits must realize that they lost the throne a century ago and are losing relevance as time goes by. Remember those idiotic MPs who intentionally tried to stir trouble by encouraging HK protests last year?

The picture is not real? Where is the lower communication antenna (under front fuselage). Also in JF-17 photos there are two pitot tubes on each side of upper front fuselage, here we have one????

Not sure what You want to say: Everything is exactly on place where it should be. the lower comm-antenna exactly on place and on the right side there was always only one pitot, whereas on the left there are two.

JF-17 0213 details.jpg

Therefore please try to be a bit more precise in both Your observations and Your postings since to assume the image is faked or not real - what else should it be ? ... a CG ?? - is IMO a bit far-fetched especially if everything else is quite fine.

not sure whether China is prepared to upset the British to sell weapons to Argentina. I am not saying China is "scared" of British, but the relationship of these two country is at the best at the moment

IMHO, JF-17 would be actually least intimidating Argentinian fighter option for British. JF-17 is a solid aircraft, that's for sure, but it is not nowhere near to Typhoon or even F-35B . In order to do something significant and considering British forces on the island and those responding to attack , Argentina would need at least 50 Thunders, number they are unlikely to procure . Therefore, Argentinian purchase of JF-17 could actually lead British to believe that Argentina doesn't seek military confrontation, that they just want to keep their airforce flying with as little cost as possible .

On the other hand, Argentinian purchase of Flankers (either Russian or Chinese ) as some forum members suggested , would ring alarm bells in UK military circles . Planes like Su-30 could give Typhoon run for its money , especially if Argentina gets usual two squadron batch (24 aircraft) . Even medium-sized fighters (Mig-29, J-10) although less capable then Flankers could still be viewed as a threat from British point of view .

Therefore, if Argentina wants to avoid further military buildup and defuse situation, and yet tries to update it's current fighter fleet, JF-17 could be acceptable solution for them .

Dieno I wanted to delete my post but couldn't since this was my first one. This was based upon feelings and not knowledge. I could not see the lower antenna properly and have not seen Chengdu painting numbers in such a thin stroke? Pitot, I also realized but then couldn't delete my post. I will be careful to post in future but am thankful for your kind reply

Assuming this indicates a second production line could it be that the PLAAF decided to go for the JF-17 afterall? Perhaps in a hurry to retire all the obsolete aircraft that they are still flying?

it still doesn't make sense. by all accounts, ws13 should be an engine for export as much as for domestic use. Perhaps even more for export, considering the numbers of jf17. Even ws10 engine, mostly for domestic use, and really the current finished pinnacle of chinese aeroengine engineering was paraded around on expos for years. While ws13, a less senstive and more important for export engine is nowhere to be seen.

I don't think ws13 is just going to appear out of nowhere and be put on dozens of jf17. It makes much more sense that it will appear on some expo, be shown around, its integration on jf17 will be publicized, and then after a few years of that we will see it offered for export.
