With three drop tanks, I wonder how far can it fly? Does it need to land for refueling before arriving at Fanborough?

JF-17s ferry range is told to be 3000KMs, meaning with full internal fuel load, as well as external fuel tanks with no extra ordnance.

These 2 JF-17s made 2 stop overs on their way to Farnborough, one is KSA and another in Turkey, from where it headed to Faranborough.

More then roughly 6000KM distance they covered.

Banned Idiot
may be it could be oppurtunity to interview and hear there comment on russia decision to bar export of jet engine, and possible any alternative engine ? my belief is that country suchas egypt and possible pakistan may opt for GE-F=414 engine or even M-88-3 engine.

Am not sure about Egypt, but Pakistan will be hardly go for western engines, as they are expensive as well as sanctions prone.

JF-17s were meant for a solution for Pakistan, which is sanction free, less costly and work as a work horse.

Russia has so far not officially said that engines are banned for re-export, including Pakistan. It was an opinion expressed by the MiG & Sukhoi heads for Russia to do so, as JF-17 is a competitor now for their fighters in international sales, which has been fueled up as Egypt has shown interest in FC-1 where MiG-29s are also to be a contestant. Even though Russia initially had agreed for re-export to Egypt way back when first contract for the sale of engines was done, but at that time no one imagined FC-1 ever to be able to compete for such major contracts or it will never be potent enough, but current FC-1s are very potent platforms, so now Russians have gotten the fear that it will snatch their sales, thus they are asking for a ban for re-export to certain countries where it can compete with Russian jets, Pakistan has not yet been affected.

Plus, we are badly waiting for the WS-13 to come up, its the only viable solution to the engine problem and dependency.

You must be dreaming....

GE F404 or F414 engines and M-88-3 engines are all western engines.

Western countries currently ban all their military sales to China.

Pakistan and Egypt have no experience and the necessary facilities to do the engine accomodation of different types. Even the K-8 which Pakistan requested for American honeywell engines to be used, had to go thru engine swap and testing in China. American only allow the honeywell engine to be send to China becos K-8 persist no threat as trainer.

Only China is capable of replacing a new type of engine on FC-1. Russia and Westen countries are out of question for the job.

So, only WS-13 and RD-93, all other's are out of question and will probably wait too long.
