With Shenyang next gen combat aircraft near the horizon, I clearly ponder where the J-35 fits in the equation. If they are deceiving us plenty and numerous fighter are ready to man CV-18 soon I see the timing is still good. If right now it's only a few prototypes, how long it will take to be in a combat ready form vs Shenyang next gen combat aircraft ? J-35 is still in prototype stage or not ?

Both are from Shenyang, assembling line will need to go full speed soon for J-35 and also not far long in time for their sixth generation system. Less than 8 years maybe between the two peak of production ? Do we have huge production lines build-up or the sixth generation will just take over the J-15 production lines ?

J35 is assumed ready for Fujian's commission in this year or next, and might surprise us like J15T that suddently appeared in meaningful number. Having a large number of J35 will ensure high combat effectiveness of China's aircraft carriers for the next10 years or so.

We don't know when will the catapult capable 6th gen jet be introduced as the flight test is still at the early stage. It could be 5 to 10 years depend on if the development program proceed as scheduled.

Also, there is a huge potential for export of J35A after the J10CE's success in downing Rafales.

Hopefully when we see the first production J-35, it'll feature WS-19 and TVC like Cute Orca claimed outright. No more in-between engine shenanigans

Cute Orca: J-35 will be equipped with TVC at some point in its service. Navy has fewer fighters, they will try to pursue top-level configurations.

If the plan is to deploy the J35 with TVC in the Chinese Air Force, then testing the TVC model of the J35 is equivalent to almost rewriting the flight control software, which will bring huge time losses. The JXX is right behind, with standard TVC, larger engines, larger payload, larger nose, and omnidirectional low detectability. During the wasted time, JXX will also complete its flight test work and enter small-scale production. So like the J20, J35 won’t be any TVC.
I don't think the J35 will have any TVC deployment unless specified by a foreign customer.

Cute Orca is usually legit on stuff like this. Since we have no close ups or any recent pictures of late/LRIP airframes of the J-35, its possible that current J-35 prototypes are already equipped with TVC and WS-19

The Chinese demonstrated a pretty good TVC performance for J-10 in the 2018 Zuhai Airshow. So the necessary flight control software was there. See Zhuhai Air Show 2018
