I agree with you.
Chinese officials are becoming smart nowadays.
Instead of keeping an opaque stance, they are using the web to releasing unofficial but very real info to the pubblic in a controlled little-by-little fashion.

I think by the New Year's day we will see very clear photos of this bird and maybe even some videos.

Yeah, I think here in Europe we might be in trouble.

Europe is very, very far from China! And has been repeated often by leaders of both places, there is no point of contact, i.e., no borders, no necessary areas of conflict.

It's not only a matter of simple border vs border contact.
It's a matter of geo-economic engagement/competition with China. It's a too long story to be told.

No, it just means whoever took the picture has a lot of skills. There are plenty of photos on airliners.net showing crystal clear picture of landing gears of airliners with blurry background.

That's a possibility, but at that angle from the top and at a far distance, the shot still needs to be taken from quite a height, probably from a few stories up a building, and definitely not from the ground level outside the fenced area, for example.

By that isn't more the US is the competitor of Europe when it comes to non-geo-politics of this? The US is the brand name of stealth fighters. Russia has India. China would only really be in competition with Russia in the other emerging economies that can't afford the brand names. Arab oil-rich countries who could buy 5th generation love the brand names. The only competition Europe has is the US for the high-end product. But isn't much of Europe invested in the F-35? Everyone has their niche market and the only real competition comes between Russia and China. Even with that Russia has an advantage over China since the latter is new in the game.

Just like I said, it's a long story, things are not that simple. I don't want to go off-topic, so let's just return in topic.

So no lambda wings. Where did that rumor arise from anyway?

(From the front angle, this bird looks like it has a huge nose.)

Re: New Generation Fighter

It looks like CAC chose not to intergrate the engines into the airframe as in F-22 and TU-50. I wonder if this was because they were not capable of this level of sophistication, or if they found that it was not necessary for stealth capabilities.

From the size of this airframe, I'm beggining to believe that this platform will be dedicated first to carrier killing. I assume that it is designed to be stealthy enough to evade detection by Aegis, Hawkeye, and F-35 radars, large enough to carry long-range ASMs, and superior to the F-35s in both the BVR and dog-fighting capacities of the air-superiority domain. Coupled with the, now operational, DF-21, this could signal the end of US carrier operations in the -from the US perspective- western Pacific.

Very interesting!!!
