Just wanted to add...........

Even in terms of Naval surface combatants, with the Type 055 and the Type 052D, I believe the PLAN has equaled or surpassed the USN in terms of the Technological capability, and only the numbers remain to be ramped up.

Currently, I believe it is only the USN Nuclear Submarine fleet that is ahead of the PLAN.

Also, when the CATABOR J15 comes online, with it's full potential payload, it will suddenly become the most powerful carrier-borne Fighter. Add a smaller stealth Fighter alongside it, and it becomes almost insane.

Even in the Aircraft carrier department. with the Type 003, the PLAN has all the bells and whistles in terms of Technology, it is only the sheer number of USN Aircraft carriers that is currently giving the USN the edge.
I am wondering what it will be like 20 years from now...o_O

Indeed, Type 003 EMALS CATOBAR carrier, J-31 carrier-borne stealth fighter aircraft, J-15T, KJ-600 AEW, it's a complete package and on the horizon. And it takes just over two decades from zero to get there.

From the recent Zhuhai Airshow displays, 052D and 055 may already have been equipped with quad-packed mid-range anti-air missiles (or soon) and the HHQ-9B they carry may very well have a range of over 300 KM. So the carrier fleet finally have a powerful, multi-layered air defense system.

If only we had any updates on the status of 09V, that is.

The J20 is such a beautiful Plane, and it looks quite menacing at the same time.
Despite what the naysayers say, the J20 gives the PLAAF the edge over all other Air Forces outside of the US Military, it also gives a chance to balance the Airpower against the US Military. Newer iterations, with incremental improvements, will make it even more powerful within half a decade to a decade.

Putting together the J20, along with the J16, J16D and the J10B and J10C, and also with the CATOBAR J15, the PLA Airpower is taking a monumental leap.
I believe that with the J16, the PLA has overtaken even the US in conventional Fighters.
All that is needed is to built the J20 in greater numbers, to achieve parity in stealth fighters

It is truly staggering, the level of qualitative and quantitative leap that China has taken in its Airpower. Too many people cannot grasp the reality and come to terms, or simply refuse to believe, the sheer strength and capability of the PLA Airpower. Even more astonishing and deserving of respect, is the fact that these are all indigenous, all built in-house.

J-20 with WS-10C already has around 15-ton thrust. With WS-15 and its expected TVC, J-20 can improve its rear stealth (getting rid of the ventral fins?), aside from much stronger supercruise capability. J-20 is just the right stealth fighter for China with its longer range and bigger payload, better than either F-22 or F-35.

J-20, J-16, J-16D and J-10C are just a potent combo, rivaling any other combs out there.

If only we had any updates on the status of H-20.

Is it like a hatch that opens when the flares/chaffs needs to be deployed and then closes when its done?
@by78 @Deino is this a new variant of J20? I'm asking cause compare the photo below this plane had no CHAFF flaring between the tails and engine? maybe they change it?

AFAIK they can be covered in a similar way, the EOTS done under the front can be covered too.

I think the cover will be blown off when deploying chaffs, then stay open. When one has to deploy chaff, it is too close, there is no point of stealth.

Not sure if that is how it truly works (I think the possibility of hard peace-time covers cannot be excluded) on the J-20, but that is certainly what I'd do. Sort of like the frangible LO gun muzzle covers on the Typhoon and Rafale.

I don't think PLAN intends to be world police running around with ~2 dozen carrier groups. I do think we may see a few more carriers but not alot. We will see alot more drive and focus to bridge the Nuke sub gap and more focus on electronics and EW, that is another area where US likely have an edge. Regarding engines, I think China has reached a stage where it's a matter of time before they close the gap here.

What's the quad-packed missile being used?
