You don't understand. If Deino doesn't count any new J-20s, it means no new J-20s exist.

The craziest Chinese sources I've heard and read insist aggressively there are now at least 100 J-20s. I got into a verbal argument last week over this where I was suggesting around 30 to 50 and he was saying he's got good sources telling him there are 100 to 150 already and been in LRIP since 2017 but switched to mass production some time ago already. Needless to say, I'm confident this isn't the case and he's just listening to fanboys who talk with authority. But I know SDF and Deino's counts are conservative and more evidence based. The issue with this method is not all are photographed with numbers and location settled, obviously.

The Chinese sources say the numbers double up quite often and some say there are sometimes up to four identical units with the same visible number and they're further distinguished elsewhere in less obvious and photograph traceable ways. Interesting conversations nevertheless.

It's possible that the Chinese spammed J-20s under our nose, but from known J-20 deployments J-20 production seems either deliberately or unavoidable limited.

There's an absolute strategic necessity for high-end J-20 production. Under the present circumstance, China would be hard-pressed to deal with even a single CVBG's F-35 load. Likewise, the JASDF and RoKAF arguably have a F-35 load that's competitive with China's, with the respective limitation being the missiles both sides are using (F-35s don't have micro-missiles up yet, PL-10 is likely to be superior to AIM-9X in terms of NEZ).

Yeah right. with all due respect US can output a F35 faster than China output a j10A or jf17. How do you even compete in that? Just look at the tools being used in the manufacturing floor will tell the story
One must understand that China started very late in high tech manufacturing and under Western embargo in all things consider advanced since 1989. The world aviation indistries, commerice or military had always been dominated by US and EU and they set the standards and monopolised all approvals. The fact that China has come so far in the last 2 decades is nothing short of a miracle. You may argue on high ground and that China is slow and behind, but they are mainly on par and is closing the gap in a few remaining areas. China does not have the luxury of other countries that can buy, borrow or learn vital technologies from the West. These countyies are still struggling far behind China inspite of their far more favourable situations and head starts. You may belittle China, but America and allies are now desperately putting up a massive juggernaut to constrain China achievement.

Hes not belittling china, only people with his attitude can make china advance more rapidly. Acknowledging your own deficiencies is the first step to becoming greater. China has gone a long way but it still has a longer way if it wants to surpass the west. The spirit is to work hard, but most importantly, work smart.

Minnie Chan again, but where's the interview?

Also, the point regarding F-22s is one about range. SCMP is citing a 1100 km combat radius on the J-20, but if we consider the rumor that it's designed for 5500 km ferry range with tanks (about 7500 kg of fuel), the minimum combat radius estimate of the J-20 is 1300 km on air-to-air.
