I have not seen this type of maneuver before.

The second part of the video.


This high alpha manoeuvre reminds of something I saw way back when. A group of RC enthusiasts made a model of the J-20 (with a lot of differences) and compared it to RC models of various other planes, and the J-20 was notably more manoeuvrable and "comfortable in high alpha":
Usual caveats apply, of course. But I still find the demonstration interesting.

Ya...I too saw this video before during the time when the J-20 first appeared in public eons ago.

Models like this don't mean anything. First of all the shape is different, it is basically a 2D cardboard cutout. Second of all, the thrust to weight for AC models are ridiculous, which allows them to perform maneuvers impossible in real manned aircraft.

It's not an engineering model, but it illustrates the kinematic advantages of the J-20's layout.
