this plane sounds amazing really
Roll rate is disappointing, without properly measuring it, it's 120-180 degrees per second. The J-10 is reputed to be capable of 300 degrees per second, but the J-20, well, were afterburners on?

The fighter likely have its supersonic maneuverability optimized. Subsonic roll rates may indeed fall short.

You are comparing a twin engined fighter with a single engined one. Besides, we’ve seen it roll a lot faster at Zhuhai.

Also, what does afterburners have to do with roll rates?


p.s. One additional fact. The upper limit for roll rate advertised for fighters is not the initial roll rate! It takes several rolls for an aircraft to build up the momentum for something crazy like 300 dps (the hornet could reach 720 degrees I think). Since the purpose of a roll in aerial combat is nose pointing, only the speed at which you turn the initial 90 degrees is important unless you are doing a barrel roll.
