West is a very vague term. Which publication claims this? Even Flightglobal, RUSI, and the Pentagon annual report state that the J-20 is fifth generation.

Zeenews is an Indian publicationand I actually want to explain the discrepancy in the generation system between the China and the West. In China, 2nd and 3rd generation fighters are classified as a single generation, which means that the F-16 and F-15 are third generation and the F-22/F-35 are fourth generation based on Chinese designation.
The top link you posted claims that the J-20 is fifth gen as well. I skimmed the article and if there are rebuttals to the claim, I must’ve missed it.
