Where do we have a confirmed video of the WS-15? All I know were either faked ones or even US engines.

WS-15 likely won't have 3D OVTs. They would have serrated nozzles though. Designing a 3D OVT that includes IR suppressing panels( ceramic panels) would be impractical considering the costs, weight and complexity involved.
Chances are, the feature packed WS-15 would push the J-20 into a hangar queen. It's a gamble that China can't afford to / should not take.

I must say that initially,I thought J-20 would be having WS-15 with 3D thrust vectoring. That was my position merely months ago...but the existence of Canards and all moving V tail indicate that supermaneuverability would be/could be extracted by Aero Control surfaces alone. The absence of a Gun tells me that TVC equipped Super-maneuverability might not be a priority so far.

These are merely my thoughts/apprehensions.

I hope they go down that path after much thought. I have explained my concerns regarding the same. I vouch for a non TVC WS-15 with serrated nozzles and IR coatings.

The fact that he became mute/ordered to shut up seemed have validated what he had said.

I agree, J-20 may not emphasize as much as F-22 on super maneuverable, let’s say, even the designer said it’s foolish to dog-fight these days. Still, it has two dog-fight missile, so TVC could be a big plus in close range.

Also since the SRAAMs are much much powerful than any guns in the dog-fight now days, so with its aggressive aerodynamics design and TVC, it will be very big mistake for its enemy to underestimate its maneuverability when facing J-20 in close range.

BVR fights still demand excellent agility and maneuverability from a fighter, in particular, climb rate, acceleration, direction changing, gaining and losing energy.

On a sidenote and esp. with the request to @hijiki ... at the SecretProjectForum was once again a strange discussion with one of our wellknown old but banned member concerning my "obsession" to collect PLAAF's construction and bort-numbers.

... take it like a good advice not everyone is interested in counting bort numbers, that is good, true, counting bort numbers is good, recently in Japan in one of the most popular magazines they made an analysis on the 2020 February issue and they said China only has 10 J-20s probably operational aircraft, regardless if it is an accurate figure or not it shows how inaccurate picture analysis to find bort numbers is.

It seems as if my reply once again offended him so much, that my request to stay on topic was downturned. Anyway has anyone read this Japanese analysis, on why the PLAAF has only ten J-20s operational, even if 18 are confirmed with individual numbers?!

I find it dubious that they will use more than half of the fleet (seven) at a practice run for the October 1sr parade if that were true.
