All canopies have a protective coating of harder material to keep the plexi from getting all scratched up,,, you're missing the "gold overlay" put on fifth gen canopies to reduce the likely hood of a radar picking up the pilots helmet, seat, panel, etc.

the more important aspect of aircraft canopies is that they be optically clean and free of distortion, and this is a very clean looking canopy.

we're not seeing that gold coating because it doesn't show up well without external lighting, when they roll it outside, it will be there.....

You're right, seems to be the same with the F-22.

According to the Chinese Air Force, the J-20, J-16 and J-10c have again been training together recently. The J-20 first takes care of eliminating "all air threats", while the following J-16 and J-10c take over the ground targets.

That's OK, because it gives us the opportunity to observe that the EOTS is flat and opaque in the absence of outside lighting, just as the canopy doesn't cast that golden glow....

Some important info revealed by the CCTV 7 program on the J-20 squadron:

1) All pilots within the squadron can pilot J-20, J-10C, and J-16. Realtime data can also be shared among the three platforms.
2) J-20 recently conducted its first night time combat exercise with J-16 and J-10C.
3) The J-20 is used to surgically remove aerial threats to insure air superiority during the exercise.

Is it normal for the EOTS to be opaque?
J-20's EOTS is transparent with coating. Under certain angel of light it looks opaque but with tint. In the photos in question it is not opaque, you still can see the camera lens inside.

Edit: AFB said "opaque in the absence of outside light". It is light condition, not really opaque.
