As many have mentioned, a TVC is very heavy and will change the center of gravity of the plane. So my understanding is that adding a TVC to the J-20 would literally mean that they will need to redesign the entire plane.

The J20 was designed with WS15 as intended engines, and the WS15 is almost certainly going to be heavier than the AL31s currently used.

As such, the J20 design would have already have allowances built in for the heavier engines, and are probably using ballast to maintain COG position with the interim AL31s.

The big question is whether the WS15 is designed to have TVC. If it was, the extra weight should have been accounted for in the design, in which case once the WS15 is ready, you just remove the ballast and COG is maintained. If not, then yes, it will be hard to integrate them later.
