You guys have to read the Chinese more carefully. The original blog, which was mine, clearly said those are construction number, which might suggest the 00 batch 11th aircraft.

To admit, my Chinese is not the best (actually non-existent;)) so I beg Your pardon when I only used Your quote here in this thread, where it is called "serial number".

Anyway, this number XX0011 fits nicely to the usual CAC construction number. IMO it could be a hint for XX = 20 (aka J-20) ???, batch 00 (= LRIP) aircraft no. 11 !

The pyramidal shaped electro-optical sensor turret under the chin appears to be non-operational and covered with an opaque cover on the bird in flight, although the electro-optical window under the belly and on the dorsal spin appears to be transparent and therefore possibly operative.

Indeed IMO it's only a cover; maybe to hide that item at Zhuhai.

It appears the J-20 has a different style of camouflage on the upper surface than the lower one. The upper surface has jagged, sharp edged patterns, the lower a soft mottled pattern.

My guess is that they may be intended to emulate cloud patterns... You will see its belly with the sky and clouds as the back drop when you look up (as shown in the photo). So they want the belly camo pattern to emulate sky and cloud.

When you are above the J-20 and look down, you will see the J-20's top with ground as the background. So they have a pattern that emulates the jagged ground features (farm land, mountain patches, etc).

This is the same as fish in the ocean. Most fish have dark back (to blend in with the dark ocean bottom when you look down on them) and light belly (to blend in with the bright sky at the ocean surface when you look up). Natural camo...
