I'm actually a little more curious what that guy with the outdoor desk is supposed to be.

Selling tickets for a ride in 2003, it might be a two holer???? Well he has a uniform, looks like security.....Brat
Just peddling my latest idea for 2003, I'm still thinking she will likely get upgraded engines????

For example, F-15 has a higher thrust-to-weight ratio, yet the aircraft flies slower and climb slower than the F-22.

 Where did you get that ?

Current public data (Wikipedia and such ) claims 40,000+ ft/min and 2.24 Mach for F-22 , >50,000 ft/min and 2.5+ Mach for F-15C . Yes , it is probably a clean configuration for F-15 , but nevertheless ....

The pic looks funny so I don't know if it's been PSed. 2003?

It's definitely PSed, there's no way the cock pit of that J-20 can be seen that close to the window without having the wings interfere with the wall.

Are you gonna believe wiki,,,,,,, or the Eng??????? stupid question, my money's on the Eng, the F-22 is still HIGHLY CLASSIFIED.

Well , I usually don't believe anyone :D , but Wikipedia article has some references to public sources (you can check them at wiki page , I cannot post links - yet :D ) . On the other side , I would like to see Engineer's sources for his bold claims :p

Sure.

The Raptor's silhouette stood out against the thick wool of clouds building nearly 18,000 ft. up. The two airplanes lined up their noses on an imaginary starting line and accelerated from 250 kt. at an altitude of 13,000 ft.

Inside the F-15, Jacob's body slammed backward and the two fighters stayed even for about 10 sec. The F-15 hit 450 kt. in full afterburner in level flight after 20 sec. The F-22 hit 500 kt. in maximum afterburner and pulled away, ending the race. Jacob laughed. "That's it," he said. "My F-15 can't accelerate any more."

that was in Aviation Week.

Also, while F-15 does have a higher top-speed, when afterburners are off the F-22 can indeed fly faster. This is called supercruise which I'm sure you know about already. So like I said in my earlier post, aerodynamics are very important and thrust-to-weight ratio can't be used as the only metric to gauge a fighter's ability.

Well , article is interesting (bit on fanboyish side , but what can you do :p ) . F-15 version mentioned is a D (two-seater) , somewhat slower than regular C . I somehow doubt it was a clean aircraft (no missiles , bombs , fuel tanks and other stores ) because they were on training exercise , and especially because F-15 couldn't get past 450 kts . Also , what is worth of mention is that better acceleration does not automatically translate into better top speed , although it usually means better rate of climb .

This being said , I will consider this as some kind of semi-proof , until we find something better :p
