Just a year ago many us would probably kill to get a shot of this. Now, not so much:

Besides that ... are there any latest news or at least reports about 2003 or whatever number the next J-20 prototype might use ????

That's non sequitur. Figuring out the RCS of F-22 has nothing to do with producing a physical sample through copying and reverse-engineering.

Don't be absurd.

If you're talking a a marble to baseball sized target, you'd better build a pretty close replica. Otherwise missing specifics on things like how the internals are RCS minimized or getting the RAM composition even a bit off means you end up with a RCS of 0.005m2 instead of 0.001m2, since all those little details add up after a while.

You really don't need to argue with Eng, he knows how good the F-22 really is, his point is well taken, but you are quite right, no one really has the F-22 nailed down, it is and will remain the gold standard for a fifth gen, and although the technology is archaic, it remains the only true fifth gen on the planet. We do have an F-22 thread that was started by Jeff, such a sorrow that Gates and BHO drove a stake in her heart. The F-35 will no doubt do the job, it is not the overwhelming victor the F-22 was destined to be, but it will no, doubt prove very capable, and even with the F-35, the J-20, J-31, T-50 have a very worthy adversary. If we are talking BVR, the F-35 will win, as it has a highly capable network in stand off capability, and it is actually in production and flying.

I have been very disappointed that 2003 hasn't made its first flight, I would say that presently the PLAN is soaking up development money, with the Liaoning, J-15, possibly even the J-31, that's a lot of cash outlay, not even considering the Indigenous Carrier??? brat
