From Henri K blog. Last estimate there are between 32 to 40 carrier qualified pilot

12 new student pilots joined early December what it should be the 13th training wave of the Chinese Naval Air Regiment.
...
but I only know #123 as last serial.

This should be enough for CV 001 Liaoning. Shouldn't we see more planes, because CV 001 A will be added soon and CV 002 following within 3 - 4 Years, I suspect.

Not really there is 1 to 1.5 ratio between plane and pilot meaning for a squadron of plane you need 36 pilots
And assuming it will take 3 or 4 year for experience pilot to become carrier qualified
Assuming they can produce 12 aircraft a year . It will take only 2 years to produce a squadron of J 15
So pilot training take a much longer time. The present pilot roster is only good for 1 squadron.

The first generation of carrier pilot are recruited from experience PLAAF pilot But now they stop doing that and instead they recruit green horn from academy. Another 4 years

CV17 will be commission the end of the year or next year So they need another 36 pilot in 2 year time That is not much time left

At first they need experienced and carrier-qualified instructors. For this they took combat-competent air force pilots and qualified them on the carrier. Now with four dozens of instructors they can train their own navy-pilots.

Yep, and the J-20 would take a lot of rework, and I just don't think that's in the cards?? I might be surprised, but the FC-31 is far closer to the typical carrier configuration...
Why?
If hornet family managed to dominate carrier decks through (rather unlucky) sequence of events - by no means it sets Standart.
On the contrary, it works only if there is no opposition, and you just try to get as much strike productivity as you can as cheap as you can.

But Chinese carriers from the very beginning start in unfavorable geography and with strongest opposition possible.

Are sure it is new?

I think I remember this one, which is in fact only an enlarged part of an older one.

Besides that, there are reports from “angadov” assuming the “J-15-Growler went to the sea”.
