I have not been active for many years. Nevertheless, internet got memories. Below is my thread 20 years ago ( Dieno was on page 2, & Tphuang on page 3), I am not sure Crobato is still active? But then was the days that we fought for topics such as "J10 is PSed" in the forums...

Just in 20 years, many stuff featured by China nowadays speak for themselves, and I guess no one will challenge that like what we encountered 20 years ago.

Janes says $3.1B in total allocated for J10Bs, Type 22s and CM-302.

I think this sounds reasonable and plausible. Enough fund for training, missiles, spares, some form of MLU to extend service life and I think it also opens up more exercises with Indonesia.

beside the J10s will it not be good for Indonesian to get some awacs, so the J10s can do their
job according to its full potential with maximum range of its missiles etc

You don't need to fill the role of AEW&C right away, you can wait until your fleet enter service in good numbers first then get it.

"No real threats" is completely false, it's a country that neighbors Australia, and the US and its allies talk openly about closing trade routes & enforce blockade in their maritime environment. Plus as they need to cover a lot of distance, an AEW&C is very beneficial, AEW&C doesn't work against aerial threats but also what's in the ground & sea.

They can go for a KJ-500 or something like Pakistan's AEW&C later.
