J-10 Thread IV

It is at fist surely a hint that reliability issues have been solved so far that they can be used in a single-engined type ...

Was there every any real, substantive evidence to suggest any reliability problems with the WS10A/B?

I know earlier models had slower spool up times compared to AL31s, not sure if they managed to solve that, but where did the reliability issues rumours first appear.

Per my recollection, it's more of a chicken and egg story.

People were asking why J10s weren't using WS10As while J11s were, it wasn't long before someone guessed unproven reliability on account of its newness, and then that quickly got turned around into that the J10s weren't using WS10A because of reliability issues/concerns, and thus achiving perpetual circular reasoning.

i don't know what you would call real, substantive evidence, but plenty of big shrimps on Chinese bbs talked about it.

I thought it was mainly a quality control issue. So they were having trouble scaling up the production. So not so much about being unreliable.

Poor quality control vs poor design/material
