Doesn't seem like a phone, probably some sort of portable satellite navigation device. Probably for use if he is forced to eject, to self locate himself.

Anyone can confirm it? It will be THE BIG news of the day
Finally! If it true no more testing specimen but real production copy with WS10B

According spotters in Chengdu, at least three J-10B with the painting of the Air Force and the Chinese engine WS-10B flew today around the plant 132. One of them is registered 78117. A which entity owns it?

Yes ... but that was reported already last week !

I'm much more interested in the true numbers of the real operational birds. ... esp. in regard to the other units additional to the 170. Brigade (FTTC) and 2. Fighter Division.

So, come on ...

so, assuming it is true (WS-10B) ... what does it mean for Russian AL-31xx series ?

Is WS-10B really better overall than the most powerful AL-31FN Series 3 (137 kN) offered to China by Russian ?

Or whether this is to "force" Russia to sell the most advanced AL-31 series to China, AL-31F M2 (145 kN) ???

It is at fist surely a hint that reliability issues have been solved so far that they can be used in a single-engined type ... however if they have a higher thrust (some say up to 140 kN) I don't know.

At least if they can prove their reliability then it would be the next - maybe final step - of an indigenisation; as such it could mean an end of AL-31FN-purchase from Russia.

Regarding the AL-31F-M2 I think it is simply not an issue ... this version is a "F", so it won't fit to the J-10 and sometimes I have the feeling that the FN series III is already an so far not-existing FN-M2.

If China buys M2, it might be for the J-20 instead of J-10B/C.
