I believe the AL-31FN engines sold to PRC maybe even cheaper than WS-10 engines. PRC has build up Huge factories and maintenance plant of AL-31FN. They wouldn't want to waste those tools and money invested if they decide to switch to WS-10 engines completely.

More or less it show PRC has revamp up J-10 production. They are going to deploy more J-10. Maybe even 1:1 replace of j-7 fighter series. From the article somehow, it seems salut is very keen to keep PRC buying AL-31FN. They offer full documentation of maintenance. I will not be surprised even very steep discount and full guarantee of quality engine delivered without additional cost..

.... More or less it show PRC has revamp up J-10 production. .....

Are there any hard facts available about how many production lines are working ?? Already a few years ago it was reported of two ... but production rate hasn't been increased over the years so much and stood very much at one / one and a half regiment per year.

Some rumors are floating around at CDF. J-10B 1034 allegedly crushed at Yanliang. The test pilot perished.

Ohhh ... please not !! :( (and if true hopefully 1034 and not the WS-10-powered 1035).

Not really new, since we've heard about that AL-31FN-order already a few weks (months ?) ago, but new to me is the part regarding the J-11 with the AL-31F:

The order for another 123 AL-31FN engines was announced 3 July 2011.10.07

AL-31FN acquisitions were discussed in FLANKER Thread II posts #1490-93.

The 150 AL-31F engines are actually said to be for SU-27/SU-30, not for J-11.

It has been reported that Chengdu established a third production line for J-10’s quite some time ago (I think that corresponds to about 42 annually).

The 12 Regt, 4 PLANAF Ftr Div was reformed with J-10AH in 2010.

Four regiments, 96 planes, are equipped with J-11B/Taihang. They are:

57 Regt, 19 Ftr Div (yes, I am back to 57 Regt vice 56)
89 Regt, 30 Ftr Div
111 Regt, 37 Ftr Div
22 Regt, 8 PLANAF Ftr Div

Yes, it is a bit disturbing that we have no reliable news on new J-10, J-11 and indeed JH-7A regiments.

Did anyone else pick up the rumor that a J-10B crashed during a testflight at Yanliang this week? Just wanted more confirmation.
