don't under estimate the persian .looking at iranian military technology, remind me China military tech. of 1970's.the iranian like the chinese has strong determination (provided, the ayatollah do not mess it up).
the F-313 is no joking matter.and should be taken seriously.

Trying to compare Iran to China in the 70's is a joke! First China in its backward times do not do this kind of silly publicity stunt which just try to fool the average joe with limited military knowledge. If you need to have a strong and advance military establishment. You need to start from bottom. That is increase education investment and basic industries base. Like shipbuilding, manufacturing and all these. Allow foreign participation, investment to absorb their knowledge and slowingly evolve into your own once its mature.

What caught my attention - and made me laughed so hard - is this statement:
Defence Minister Ahmad Vahidi said the jet had been designed and built by Iranian aerospace experts and was capable of flying at low altitude, carrying weapons, engaging enemy aircraft and landing at short airstrips.
Seriously, the Q-313 is so petite that it hardly has enough room for a pilot, proper aviation suites required for a modern combat jet, and fuel load, left alone an internal payload bay, the staple meal for any stealth plane.

I highly doubt the Iranian people are that stupid to buy into such BS, and certainly if such propaganda is aim beyond Iranian borders, they need to come up with something far more convincing than that.

Actually, we cannot underestimate the Iranians and take the Qaher-313 as a joke at the same time.

That aircraft does not exist. It is a mockup that will never fly.

At the same time, they have enough other assets that are real and deadly serious to not underestimate them or let your guard down in the least...and they are very serious about developing nuclear weapons and capable of doing so.

I do kind of think it is distraction for other serious work that they have on going.

See, maybe it is precisely because they know how far away they are from a comparable 5th gen that they decided not to put too much effort into this beside the mock-up, maybe half believable to the average Joe. But could this and other media dramatizations an on going smoke screen to obscure some other serious projects at work?

I can almost guarantee you that the IDF will hit Iran hard if or when they know that Iran have either finish building or have acquired an actual thermonuclear warhead or bomb.

If and when they do so, it will be before the Mossad and IDF think the Iranians have "gotten or built," one.

It will be when they think the last moment has come when they can hit them hard and still significantly slow down, retard and push back the Iranian's progress towards development of one.

I do not believe the Israelis will ever let them acquire one without first hitting them as hard as they can in an effort to keep them from getting it.

report via "air combat" (from wmf) that China is helping iran to rebuilt there remaining fleet of F-4. according to wikipedia only 65 still remain in iranian service.
even with new radar and avionic. it is still not able to match AESA equip saude F-15.

Why do they need to bitch each other all the time? Iran will not bomb Israel, even if they can build some crude nuke and dance around it (otherwise they can dance around the Tehran funeral pyre of Persia). Saudi Arabia will not try a replay of Iraq's game of conquering the oilfields of Iran and Iran is in no position to attack Saudi Arabia that is an upper medium level power approaching the military level of a great power in hardware imports.
The whole conflict must be seen from an internal conflict distraction perspective and internal problems are available in heaps in all countries of this region. Our newspapers just don't report much on the problems of the average hard working Israeli, Persian or Arab to pay for all this conflict and still buy food and clothes for a family. The Arab Spring just happened and spread for these very reasons and the whole nuke story is captivating, but distracting from the problems at their doorsteps which are due to hideous exploitation by their local elite networks doing "business".

So what for is this 5th generation fighter serving as a smokescreen? What better weapon system, what better ego boost?
