Tinnitus builds character it’s in the PLA field manual I’m pretty sure, along with arthritis and frostbite:rolleyes: . But I’ve seen them with and without so idk probably depends on how “elite” the unit is l

I suffer from tinnitus and belief me it is no laughing matter, everytime I see those artillery men fire a howitzer without as much as ear plugs I get angry. If the PLA can’t so much as provide such rudimentary and cheap protection, it is disappointing.

The real question is, despite all fancy gear that is around or upcoming, do they get issued earplugs? Even artillery troops firing 155mm I have never seen to be given any ear protection.
Eh can you not see that the first four pictures they all have ear muffles

they wear it under the helmet

why would they spend tens of thousands $ on frontline soldier equipment and somehow miss ear plugs?

judging by the cost of the soldier kits on those sent to fight in Xinjiang, it’s probably not even normal plugs but overdesigned types that can play music and maybe have Alexa built in

Simple, oversight. Big equipment like vests, helmets, optics, weapons are great PR. You have to get budgets approved with senior officers and politicians who frankly maybe detached and have little knowledge of the military respectively.
