Haven't the pads been around for a while? I remember seeing them in the pla, the assault pack is new thoughPAP wearing their new summer camouflage uniforms during a search and rescue exercise. Note the new elbow and knee pads.

Yeah but iirc Airsoft guns have been banned in China. My Chinese buddy puts them on his gel blasters which I think are also banned xD.
It looks like the helmets, NODs and uniform overall look the same model as we've seen recently on a different occasion.
I wonder if it reflects a new standardized PLA procurement, even if it would only perhaps be limited to TZBD units
